Topic: Pikmin 1 and 2.

I'm legitimately starting to think Pikmin 4 may have a shot at surpassing Zelda Tears of the Kingdom as my new favorite game.

Pikmin 3 has long been in the top 10 short list for me. But Pikmin 4 seems to be going for it. Like, straight up going for it. Even if it doesn't surpass Zelda, it'll definitely surpass Pikmin 3, which means it's pretty much a top 5 GOAT shoe in.

You'd love Pikmin 2, 3 and 4 then.

Pikmin 2 gets rid of the countdown. Pikmin 3 has a fruit juice survival countdown but it's so prevalent, I had 46 spare juices at the end of the game, a mere 15 in-game days in. And Pikmin 4 has eliminated any semblance of a countdown.

So ya, Pikmin 1 is like the one game in the series where you really gotta be about your business with no time for dilly dallying.

Played the demo of Pikmin 3 ages ago, didn't know 1/2 were available too. Reading the comments on here very tempted to get the first 2 and see if it can get me into the franchise for 3 and 4 as well!

Oof. Struggling a bit on the final trial of Pikmin 1. Lost multiple times before turning off my switch. It's getting fairly late, so I'll give it another shot tomorrow. Any tips from vets?

@NintendoByNature Don’t be afraid to sacrifice some yellow Pikmin holding bombs. The boss will eat them up if you throw them next to it, but in turn, will stun it. Then just go all out and send a ton of your red Pikmin to deal damage. You’ll have to repeat that process a few times since it has a lot of health.

@StarPoint ok cool, I was on the right track then. Silly this far I don't know, but are red pikmin more powerful than others? I thought they could just withstand fire.

@NintendoByNature Yes, they have the most attack power. I think they also have the most health but I'm not 100% sure.

Didn't know about the health thing, thought it was just fire and more attack.

Also yeah I remember the first game's final boss was a pain, mainly because of the time limit for that day.

@Joeynator3000 I was more nervous about its jumping attack rather than time limit.

Maybe I should grab both Pikmin 1 + 2 again after having 100% both on Wii a decade back? Even though Pikmin 4 is fast approaching so to speak...

@NintendoByNature @Joeynator3000 I checked real quick, reds have the same amount of health. They just have the attack buff and fire resistance.

Yeah I always had a time limit problem with that final boss...I can't remember how hard he actually was fighting, though. I didn't play the first game as much since 2 was my favorite. (and that final boss was easy, it just took freakin' forever, lol)

Almost done with Pikmin 2, just finished Hole of Heroes, just gonna grab the rest of the treasure on Wistful Wild (...which means I need to go elsewhere and grab 100 purple Pikmin. >_>) before dealing with the Dream Den.

Yeah Hole of Heroes was always my favorite cave, only thing I didn't like about it was this one underground-themed level that was mostly water. Also I kinda screwed up during the Empress Bulblax fight and wasn't paying attention to the boulder shadows, lost about 20 there, ugh...

As for the Dream Den, taking a small break from the game for now before finishing it up...shouldn't be TOO hard, there were a couple of levels that drove me crazy, though. The boss is eh, once you get rid of the light bulb treasure you're fine, the fight just takes forever unless I've been missing something this entire time. lol

Finally beat the first game. There were some frustrating moments in the game for me, but overall I really did enjoy it. I'm thinking I'll be grabbing Pikmin 4 now, or Pikmin 2 next.

seriously, is it just me who thinks the boxart for the physical version is quite ugly?

Is the demo for 3 a good indicator on 1 and 2. I’m interested, but it’s hard to drop $50 on a series I don’t know if I will enjoy.

@blindsquarel Can't say really. I've never really played Pikmin 3 or the Switch demo. I did play 1 & 2 though.

It's more of see-&-try-it-out yourself kinda thing.

Maybe I'll just get the first one and see how I like it. If I like it I would spend more money, but $10 isn't to much more.
