Topic: Pikmin 1 and 2.

Yeah, we got a month till Pikmin 4 comes out, but now we got the first two games on Switch. Pikmin 2 was always my favorite, who else got these games on Switch?

I’m thinking of picking up Pikmin 1 digitally pretty soon. But between TOTK, Ghost Trick, and the Pikmin 4 demo, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to finish 1 before 4 comes out.

Yeah, I'll get pikmin 1, it was one of them best gamecube games, and pikmin 4 looks really good , alot of new gameplay might be good

I've passed on Pikmin for all of these years (though I did buy some of the other games for my kid brother).

But having all four games physically on a single console is very tempting indeed. I was considering grabbing Pikmin 3 ahead of the launch of Pikmin 4, but this is a much better proposition (albeit one that will have to wait until September).

The only thing that's really irking me about Pikmin 1 + 2 is that some (not all) of the text/numerals in the interface appear to have been horizontally stretched from a 4:3 source, and it's so bloody unsightly and smacks of laziness.

I have never played these games before.
What are the objection in those games ?

@Anti-Matter In the first game, you crash on an unknown planet and you need to use Pikmin to help find parts of your ship and rebuild it so you can escape in 30 in-game days.

I don’t know as much about Pikmin 2, but I know it doesn’t have a time limit and I think the goal is more about collecting treasures on a planet.

Oh, the game has deadline to finish or it will be Game Over ?

@Anti-Matter First game has the 30 day (in-game obviously, lol) limit, so you have to get MOST ship parts to beat it to win. Pikmin 2 doesn't have that, but you can still finish the whole game in under 30 days.

3rd game kinda like, does both? xD No 30 day limit but it has that "You need to survive by finding food." thing.

Following up on what @Joeynator3000 said, pikmin 3 is a bit different from the first two. There is a day timer like pikmin 1, but you don’t need to rush. You can take as many days to complete the game as you want. Instead, you have to collect fruit scattered all over the different areas of the game and use pikmin to bring the fruit back to your spaceship to make fruit juice, while completing the main story quests at the same time. If you run out of fruit juice at any point, it’s game over no matter what. In summary, you can take as many days as you want to finish the main campaign, as long as you have fruit juice with you to survive. Oh, and pikmin 3 has three playable characters at once while Pikmin 1 has one, Pikmin 2 has 2 (fitting, huh?)

Not gonna lie, I think you would really enjoy the series.

With A Wonderful Life and Ghost Trick I kind of already spent too much on ports in a week. But I might get these at some point.

Ugh, that damn Man-At-Legs scared me...I think it rarely did this in the original version, but when you wake it up it immediately attacks you, which is normal. After that I rushed up to him to start attacking it, and for some reason it didn't even give me a chance and started attacking again....lol

Ended up losing a few Pikmin because of that, that was weird. Ah well, at least the explosion when you kill it is still cool. xD

I'm still kind of on the fence about getting the digital bundle. On the one hand, I want to support the series, I know I would really enjoy both of them, plus the addition of gyro aiming, Pikmin switching, autosaving, and HD rumble make it pretty tempting. But on the other hand, $50 is a tough pill to swallow for two Gamecube games that are both relatively short. I'm sure I'll get them at some point, but I'm debating whether or not I should get them now or hold off until later.

Ah screw it, I'm buying them lol. Pikmin 1 is super fun and I've never played 2. The QoL additions are very tantalizing, and I think it would be a good idea to get a good feel of what the games are like before Pikmin 4 comes out. Plus, I want to support the series, cause I would love to see more Pikmin games in the future.

Wow… I started Pikmin 1 and got so hooked on it that I played all the way up to the ending, and I’m on Day 22. I was not expecting to get as invested in it as I did. The core gameplay loop is just so satisfying. Planning on beating the final boss tomorrow and starting up Pikmin 2.

I also have to say, this is a very high quality port. I have not experienced a single frame drop or stutter, which is great. I also don’t notice hardly any input lag. It runs at a crisp, clean 1080p 30fps and that’s good enough for me. And the upscaled pre-rendered cutscene looks very good too. The QoL additions of the Pikmin swapping and the gyro aiming really help make the game feel better.

Sooooo, the second fight with Empress Bulblax....normally that part is easy...but in this version...for some reason, the damn larva were a nightmare to get through. They apparently fixed something because they usually get stuck somewhere so you can easily get to the boss. They wiped out most of my army, jeez.

Also, still hate those random falling bomb rocks...lost a purple pikmin...I mean, I have about 60 of them but it still hurts knowing that you need 100 of them to complete the game. xD

I like the Pikmin games but one thing drives me crazy about them. I feel real guilty if even one of them dies and i have to start levels over. It's weird i know but it just bothers me if i get them killed.

Just think- any Pikmin who die will come back as Glow Pikmin in Pikmin 4. Cycle of life and all that. Their sacrifice is not in vein. Their deaths single handedly fuel our night missions.

I still need to go back and finish my Wii copy of Pikmin 1, but the ending level really kinda messed with my anxiety somewhat. I think I might just kinda jump into Pikmin 2 when this comes out in September, and then play 3 so I can pick up 4 around the holidays.

Oh, it's 100% because of that. I had Prime Remastered preordered on Amazon, and it was delayed a whole month because of demand. I didn't even get it on release day at Gamestop. It arrived that Thursday. The 3-month wait is so they have enough.

I ended up buying Pikmin 1 on direct day. I finished planet of lana xbox so I'm trying to focus more on this before AEW comes out. It's a decent little time. I do wish I had more time to explore the maps though. I feel like I rush to get a ship piece as quickly as possible as opposed to taking my time and taking in the scenery. Other than that, decent little time.
