Okay, first impressions of Overwatch on Switch: Extremely positive! Played for about an hour and a half today in docked mode and the game ran absolutely beautifully! If I were watching someone play and couldn't see the console or controller, I would not have guessed this was running on the Switch! When you look very closely, you can see some fuzziness, but you have to look closely and when you're running around shooting at each other - it's not noticeable. I felt no noticeable frame drops or online lag while playing and I was playing on wifi even! The game ran buttery smooth, absolutely no chugging or choppiness. I did notice a slight delay of character models loading in right at the very start of a match, but it only lasts a couple seconds and happens during the time when you're waiting in the base before the doors open. And I do mean, seconds.

The game supports its own voice chat too, for those who care. Gyro controls are there too.

My only complaint was how slow match making was going, after a couple games I realized it's much faster to not stay with a group. Which seems counter-intuitive to me but whatever.

It's been probably 2 years since I've played the PS4 version, and there's a bunch of new characters I don't know, and ones I do have been changed. I really like D.Va's "new" (quotes because I have no idea when it was added) rockets ability. On the other hand Mercy's ultimate feels utterly worthless now - unless I am totally missing something.

All and all, if you can set aside Chinese politics (and I will say I think you should) This is a very solid experience on the Switch. At least as far as first impressions go!

Now if only they'll let me get the skins from my old PS4 account...

And that moment you play as a healer and get 19 eliminations, feels good man!

But, what kind of fortnight is this?

Yeah I have no complaints at all. I don’t understand some of the reviews. I forget, but either Kotaku or Polygon reviewer said him and his whole team were nothing but an orb a lot. As in things never loaded and there were bad delays.. I never have experienced or seen that a single time in my 3-4hrs in so far.

I’ll be on it tonight for sure. Lovin’ the Halloween event. We keep everything we get from the event, right? 🎃 @Heavyarms55

In the Options it had highlighted the Link Your Account there--is that just if you've played Overwatch on other consoles to share cosmetics?

Nope. It’s just to link your account to obtain some exclusive rewards. For example, if you watched the Overwatch League TV stream. It does not “carry over or cross-save carry over your PS4 progress”. I hoped it would, I put time into it on PS4 a long time ago myself. Switch will be the only system I play it on for good now though.@VoodooTrumpet

Yes, you'll keep any cosmetics you get from the events.

I hope the game does well on Switch, it's really a fantastic game. I used to play it a lot on PC, was almost diamond in ranked for most seasons, but I haven't played it for a couple months now. It has enough maps and heroes and modes to keep you interested for awhile.

Thanks for confirming. It definitely will be a success on Switch just like the other platforms. I find games to jump in just as fast as it was on PS4. All this Hong Kong, boycott Blizzard, and “now” bad relationship with Nintendo is all going to die down in a matter of days. So many people will get it, if not already have and they (we) will FAR outweigh the people that will not buy it cause of the Hong Kong shenanigans. I respect those people, but in no way will those select few hurt the play base on Switch. Just my 2 cents. @rallydefault

There’s also so many people in my boat to that fit the “Switch mold” so much, even while owning a PS4 and Xbox. I’m 35yrs old with a 1yr old and 2nd baby on the way. I don’t get the TV much until later at night so I prefer Switch at all times now. Being able to play undocked or docked, doesn’t get any better. 👍🏻

To the guy that just made his topic and got it locked right away saying he refunded his game and wait times are up to 24min to load a game.....🤬🤯🤕

You simply are a joke with your 24min load time for a game comment. I’m so sick and tired of these Hong Kong wagon jumpers. Lol

It has literally taken 60sec to around 2min TOPS. Clearly, he had a poor internet connection or something to that effect.

Agreed. I been playing it the past 3 nights straight. I’m thinking about getting Witcher today but I may end up on Overwatch a 4th day in a row. Havin fun.@teixeiras

I’m so annoyed by some people’s comments who are over exaggerating with acting like they really want to boycott Blizzard and bashing the Switch release version, I just can’t wait until it all dies down in a week or so and they move on to the next thing to complain about. I’m repeating myself, but about the guy/gal that said game wait times is over 20min. Get the F outta here, what a lie or just plain god awful internet connection you must have. I’ve waited no more then 60sec-2min tops. 🙄

How playable is this on a slow internet connection? I've recently moved somewhere where (for now at least) I can only get a 1mbps connection, and it frequently dips below that. Mario Kart seems to mostly work fine, but I tried two matches of Splatoon 2 and both times got a connection error after about 30 seconds. I've been curious about Overwatch for a long time now, but obviously I'm not going to get it if I can't actually play it!

I’ve never had a single problem. My internet is average to slightly above at best. All the stuff I’ve read online that people are claiming (the bad stuff) I’ve never experienced at all. If your connection is terrible there, I’d say 50/50 for you to get it.@NFreak007

I have spent well over 100+ hours on Overwatch for the Nintendo switch and this is my input

Finding a game is absolutely no problem, queue times for competitive are usually around 30sec up to 5mins depending on your role(tank, damage, support)

The game runs perfectly with no lag at all, no frame drops and looks beautiful! 30fps is in no way bottlenecking the game even if 60fps would be nice to have.

For voice chat just plug in your preferred wireless usb dongle and headset for docked, or you could use your other wired headphones. No harder than that.

The orb thing with charachters not loading quick enough was patched out just a week after launch and has been fixed since.

I dont get all the bad reviews this wonderful game has got, it is honestly an amazing game on the Nintendo Switch!

The best thing is that i can take the switch with me and just activate hotspot on my phone and just like that playing overwatch wherever i want, whenever i want!

This game was worth every penny and should get more love than it already gets!

SwitchForce

So whom on here is buying the Physical version from Japan and playing it or just collecting it? I placed a PreOrder for the Japan Physical but I don't play the game though. Is it worth getting the Physical for this game for those whom play this or experience this?

SwitchForce

CptMorgan

@SwitchForce hmm i dont know why i would want a physical cartridge that is an online only game anywas, like its not collectable because in 10 years or 20 years when the servers are down(if thry go down) then the cartridge is just as useless as the digital copy.

Overwatch is fun as heck! Takes me back to my Splatoon days, especially with the gyro. This game is seriously legit, and I love that you can play against Ai on three different difficulties with real teammates. I found a new game I love. And the port is immaculate. Looks and runs so great on Switch.

My family picked up Overwatch back in October/November on all 3 of our Switches. We love it! We own a PS4 and I've always been tempted to pick it up for that system. I love the art style and the characters are really cool. I also like that it's a team-based shooter similar to Splatoon, but with each character being unique. After playing the game for around 6 months, I can say that we are still enjoying the game and we play it regularly (with Animal Crossing!). I think the events have been fun and we are always excited to open our loot boxes. Matches don't take long to get into despite what others are saying. Even in a party where two players are choosing "damage", we still don't wait longer then a couple minutes. Even if it does take longer, the game allows you to get into a skirmish, deathmatch, or practice round while you wait.

My only gripe is with how the game runs on one of our systems; and this may not be Blizzard's fault. On one of our systems, the game's character graphics are slow to load at the beginning of a match. Instead of seeing the characters, my son sees either red or blue glowing dots. This only happens at the beginning of the match for about 30 seconds. The game is also very slow during character selecting for him too. Everyone else has their character picked while his is still making him wait. All of our Switch systems are set up identical. They all use the same router. The actual matches run great other then this with no lag. I've tried calling Nintendo for support but it was a total waste of time. For some reason it's just his Switch with this game.

We're also looking forward to Overwatch 2! We especially enjoyed the co-op missions during the Archive Event last month. So more of that will be greatly appreciated.
