LOL

TBF I don't recall them ever saying it was nearly complete.

As for Pikmin 4 - it was quoted as "Pikmin 4", so I doubt it's a reboot/remake.

@zitpig I think he only said ''the fourth installment in the Pikmin series'', not specifically Pikmin 4. The reboot part was a rumour, but to be fair, how many Switch rumours turned out to be real?

@Octane - "Fourth installment" still indicates Pikmin 4. "A new installment in the Pikmin series" could have meant something different. Nintendo are generally very careful with their soundbytes.

As for rumours: well, there's rumours and "rumours"

And as long as the game remains Pikmin, in a similar gameplay style to the rest (ie not the 3DS game), then I don't mind a reboot. I just need more Pikmin!

@JaxonH Agreed 100%. Reggie said in an interview than March isn't considered peak season, and thus Nintendo isn't expecting sales to be holiday levels at launch. It makes a lot of sense that they don't want to use up all their games where they don't have the most pull.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

@zitpig Yeah, but the fourth installment doesn't specifically have to be called ''Pikmin 4'' (although I now realise that I said Pikmin 4 too in post no.18). I think the rumour was that the new game coming to Switch is called Pikmin World. A ''reboot'' doesn't have to mean a change in gameplay, and I also believe that the rumour described the game as a reboot, maybe because of its name. Whatever it is, I'm sure that it'll be similar to what we imagine a Pikmin 4 will be, so whatever it's called, it's probably going to be fine.

As for IP's they'll slip into this year's schedule: Kirby is at the top of my list of suspects. Being that the IP regularly comes in back to back intervals and this is his 25th anniversary year (HAL even went through the trouble of making a twitter account just for the occasion), there's a strong chance a game is coming.

People keep expecting something for Kirby's 25th anniversary, but remember we just got a major game last year in Planet Robobot. If we're getting anything this year it'll probably be something smallish, like how we got Kirby's Dream Collection for the 20th which was a collection of older games plus a few minigames from RtDL thrown in.

@Bolt_Strike Kirby is pretty much an annual franchise at this point. Last year they released Planet Robobot, in 2015 Rainbow Curse, Triple Deluxe in 2014, no game in 2013, but 2011 had two games with Mass Attack and Return to Dream Land. Planet Robobot came out in April last year, so it's not impossible that we're getting another Kirby game for the holiday season. Early 2018 seems to be a better time to release a Kirby game, but they're pumping those games out left and right, so it wouldn't be surprising if they could get another game done in time for this holiday season.

Tbh I'm surprised Hal don't have more games on the Wii U, it was just the one in Kirby Rainbow something or rather.

Speaking of Hal, why is their logo a sleeping dog?

They're also well known for implementing a "tick-tock" schedule where one game is a "normal" Kirby platformer and the next is an off the wall experiment.

Planet Robobot was a more traditional platformer so I'd expect something a little unconventional with Kirby this time around.

@Octane pretty much answered for me the main reason why I think there'll be a game this year. It's not been unusual for the franchise to have 4-5 games back to back annually or even have 2-3 games in one year then take an odd year off. Even though they technically released in different years, the time frame between Triple Deluxe and Rainbow Curse's releases was just 8 months so a little over a year between Planet Robobot and a new console game isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Of course, it could very well be another 3DS game but I think the pink fluffball definitely deserves a home console release for his 25th.

@jump Chickens don't develop games.

I would like to see more "proper" confirmed 3rd party support / games, not indie, not 360 ports of old games, PROPER AAA titles! Red Dead Redemption 2, Mass Effect: Andromeda etc.

Love is just a developed version of lust, which is nothing more than an evolutionary tool. Thus, the universe is a cold lonely place devoid of magic or genuine affection. also shoes are made by gnomes.

FragRed

@backudog Good luck with that. Those titles have been in development way too long for a port over to the Nintendo Switch to have been considered by the time dev kits started doing the rounds. Best bet is wait for E3 and see what is announced.

Retro's game was notably absent at the January event, and that's been in development since 2014. They should be ready to show it off soon, so it's a likely candidate for an E3 appearance as well.

@Bolt_Strike My guess is that the Retro game will be the big finish but won't be a game that we can expect to see this year.

@Bolt_Strike Possibly even longer than 2014. There were probably done with TF in late 2013, and it was originally slated for 2013, so it's possible that a part of the team already started development on another game sometime during 2013. Another possibility is that they're working on two games at the same time.
