Speaking of which, you guys don't forget to hit up the DLC Download menu and snatch up all this mega ton of free content. No less than 5 or 6 item packs? Shooot... let's go. Truckloads of Dust of Life, SLICKAXES... YES SLICKAXES... honey, you name it. Let's freakin go...

I was, but it's getting kinda late and my eyes are getting heavy now. Buuut, I'd be down for a few hunts. But you're low rank still, right? I'd be way OP with my upgraded high rank Garuga set. Maybe I can throw on some Beginner gear or something...

That vid was amazing! Now I understand the appeal of prowler mode. I tried it once but didn't quite understand it and I failed the quest because I couldn't beat the Glavenus- every time I die I would eat an acorn and only gain a little bit of life and I would just quickly die again so it didn't take long to exhaust my my nine lives.

I want to learn about prowler now. Maybe once I've sunk in 500 hours into the game I'll carry over the save data into a new slot and do prowler mode for the whole game (MHXX has a cool New Game + where all your items Rarity 3 and under carry over, and your original save remains in tact)

GaijinHunter has some videos on Prowler, at first I thought it was just a joke mode and were only used for gathering. Turns out they can be just as damaging as hunters. lol

I'm pretty sure melee Prowlers are just as great, but boomerangs are probably the easiest to start with. Use Piercing, Big, and Pro (skill) and you're good to go.

Good deal. That just doubled my future playtime with this game. I'll replay the whole thing in Prowler Mode for a completely different experience.

Gosh, that's super lame that not only does World not have any new weapons, it actually loses Prowler Mode too... Oh well. At least, no matter what, I've always got my dear old MHXX to play. How strange will it be if I end up putting more hrs in this game than any other game I've ever played? Being it's an import of all things...

Nice hunting indeed. I used my low rank garuga, but it was probably still a little OP. Oh well, it made for quick and easy armor farming for you... Look forward to hunting again sometime

Maybe World Portable/G will get it, who knows.

I am now curious about the Sony stream announcement coming up and if it will be a new Sony portable with Monster Hunter Worlds on it.

I seriously doubt it, and here's why...

PS4 is based on PC architecture. Switch had to use powerful mobile chips just to get the compact, portable power it has. In order to run World, it would have to be an actual PS4 under the hood, which is not using mobile tech. Trying to cram even more power than Switch into similar, compact form without even using a mobile chip- all while using PC architecture... impossible. And where's the hard drive and disc slot going to go?

No, that's just not going to happen. It would have to be a new system, and if it's a new system you can bet World won't be on it. Not only because it likely won't be powerful enough, but the game is trying to bring in the large western fanbase. And it takes time to port to a new system, hence part of why its not on Switch.

Best hope for that is wait 15 years til portable PC units (like the GPD Win) are powerful enough to run the game.

@JaxonH So, on MH related note, what do you think the chances are of that Switch MH title being made from the ground-up, even as we speak, holding any truth to it?

Idk if it'll be ground up, but I have no doubt they'll be working on a MH that will come to Switch. I think we won't hear about it for at least 2 years, but I'd be downright amazed if Capcom flushed their portable sales down the toilet.

3DS is phasing out, and everyone knows it. It might get one more MH, if it's lucky. Switch is where the future of portable sales lie. The fact MHXX, a 3DS game, was quickly brought over to Switch, indicates Capcom sees it as the platform that will carry the torch. Switch- maybe not now but certainly in a year or two- will be able to replicate the 4 million sales per entry we saw on 3DS. And that's almost as much as World will sell worldwide on 3 platforms. Even if World does better, that just means an entry on Switch will do even better- the more successful the series is, the more successful future games will be.

So ya, the question isn't if it's coming to Switch, it's a question of when and by which team. It's entirely possible the MHXX team starts laying the groundwork now, and once World goes gold the main team jumps in to help get the bulk of the framework laid before moving on to another western entry (which also could come to Switch next time, now that the system is out and hot as heck), or, perhaps they develop the next main game on Switch. With MH stepping into the 5th gen, they might want to grab the reigns developing the next main portable entry, perhaps a rebranding as Portable 5th.

Either way, they're not about to hold the series hostage on console. They want those fat western console sales, yes, but I seriously doubt they're generous enough to willingly forfeit their portable sales which can, on one system, rival that of 3 home consoles.

@JaxonH Fat Western consoles sales, aye, but there's many variables that MHW must overcome. First off, there's no cross-play, so even if, say Xbox One people can play with other countries, they still can't play with the (I'm nearly sure of this) larger bases of PC/PS4, so if any of the versions, for whatever reason, sells a lot less, then it's doomed to a small community unless there's a sale or some. Second off, a PC port is no easy task, and if they mess up with DRM, controls, or one of the other myriad of issues, the Steam user reviews will slam it into the floor. Third-off, it's still quite silly to just leave the Western base, built on Nintendo's hardware for quite some time, out in the foreseeable cold like this. If they'd give some reassurance, people wouldn't mind, but they don't/won't. And last but not least, it's still but a question if new people will pick it up and like it. Those in the know will buy it, sure, but this isn't to get those in the know to play it, it's to get those who don't to.

But back to that game you're 100% convinced of will be coming at some point, the question is if people still care by then. Capcom's silence has left me cold to MH, and as time goes by I'll find myself other things to play, and I doubt I'll be alone in that. Combine that with them being a bit of a turd with their constant testing, and I can't fault people for deciding the company isn't worth their time, hence tainting their future on Switch.

People will ALWAYS care when it comes to Monster Hunter. The Japanese base isn't going to suddenly boycott a portable entry just because Capcom released a MH game that wasn't on Nintendo. Just like Sony gamers aren't boycotting it for Capcom skipping their systems the last 10 years. And the same holds true for western gamers, even if there aren't as many.
