@SwitchForce I agree with the idea of a used resale market, business throughout history has ALWAYS been about "buy low, sell high", but usually when it comes to used things, either a person offers you a decent amount and resells it for a reasonable profit, or if they offer low, they sell low, but with a profit, but GS almost runs the business like a ticket scalper had a child with a pawn shop owner in a REALLY bad neighborhood, buying ridiculously low and selling almost new price, or in the case of some games, you may end up getting the New one cheaper than the used...

they were charging like $27 used for L.A. Noir, but their internet site said they had a NEW copy in the store for only $20 new, when I went in, they claimed they did not have the new one, I waited till he left for lunch, went in and talked to the trainee and asked again, the game was hidden in the drawers under the register

turns out from online reports from all over and BBB reported complaints, this is a regular practice that the regional managers tell the managers to do, so yah, I love used sellers, but hate greedy ass big corp strategy

I have all physical as I like collecting. I know I will appreciate having them all in the future. Still wish I held onto my Gamecube games..

@XTS2 I feel your pain, I traded my PSX for my DS Lite, and I love it, and my 3DS, but I miss my PSX and the 3 dozen games I had, I tried getting them all back, but I can't find a console that's not banged up or malfunctioning after a couple weeks and same with the games, my system and disks were always immaculate, but i can never find my games that don't look like some kids strapped them to their feet and went ice skating on sandpaper which REALLY sucks since some games just can't or won't be ported

Lol. Ok,

A) You don’t decide when or where I post. Don’t patronize me. I’ll be here as long as I want. I took the time to contribute to your thread despite the fact that this horse has been beaten to death on countless other occasions.

B) I was completely and entirely on-topic until SwitchForce decided he was gonna “correct” my opinion. This is on him, not me.

@Ryzaerian my problem wasn't about on or off topic, you many the other gentleman may have been pushy and out of place, but at no time was he boorish or abusive, and neither was I, heck, there was an honest misunderstanding between me and another and we fixed it, but you felt it was necessary to say such polite and respectful conversation was too much, I don't remember pulling your chain on that matter. and if you had such an issue with "this horse beaten subject", why come and participate in the beginning at all? you didn't seem to have an issue until I called you out on your unacceptable conduct, but even then, I ask you to leave the rest of us be in a VERY respectable manner, you're just pissed you are being put out and you are going to stir as much feces and shake as many trees as possible because YOU HAVE NOTHING MORE PRODUCTIVE TO CONTRIBUTE HERE OR PROBABLY OTHER FORUMS !!!

So fine, throw your hands up, spit in the wind, pitch your little fit like a 5 year old child, keep bashing back, keep trolling, I don't care, I won't even report you, because I WANT YOU TO PROVE TO EVERYONE TO SEE HOW CORRECT I AM, or you can just walk away like a grown person and show some damn respect for the other people that do come here...

Wow this thread made me forget the topic

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

@1UP_MARIO yah, well, sometimes some people are not suited to socializing under certain circumstances or rules, sorry about that.

I am a very patient and forgiving person, so if I go off, it's not unwarranted probably

@1UP_MARIO hopefully this thread can continue as the lighthearted sharing of preferences and ideas it WITHOUT judgment it was meant to be

Physical always beats digital. My reasoning being one you can say you own while the other is still a gray area. Physical games if taken care of last longer than the life of the console (my nes, snes, gameboy, gbc, gba, Genesis, n64 etc games are still functioning to this day) compared to dying with the console, also if you buy a used console and still have the physical media you can start playing right away!

I definitely appreciate the convenience of digital but I will always buy physical if a physical version exists and sometimes I’ll wait because I think a physical version may happen eventually.

Some of it has to do with displaying my collection on a shelf. Games I bought digitally don’t exist as far as my collection goes. I have Ace Attorney 1-4 on my shelf but 5 and 6 are invisible data on my 3DS (which I now have stored in a box). It’s just not the same. I like having a box I can pick up and look at.

Also, when you buy something digitally, you’re kind of at the mercy of the service that allows you to buy and play your games. Especially if you delete games to make space. There’s no guarantee that you’ll be able redownload that game again. Maybe the game has been removed from the shop. Maybe the shop itself has been taken down. It’s true physical media can break but so can your 3DS and the SD card that stores all of the old DSi games you bought and the DS eshop isn’t going to be up forever.

I rarely sell my games even if I know I’m not going to play it again, but I do sell games occasionally. I traded in Mario Kart 8 towards a Switch and got Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Meanwhile I bought Smash Bros for 3DS digitally and never played it again after the Wii U version came out and I had no way to sell it and as I said earlier, it’s not part of my “collection” so I feel like I wasted money on it. Even if I don’t plan on selling my games, I like the idea that my games will be worth something some day. Maybe that’s dumb because games rarely increase in value over time, but it’s still a fun thought.

Other than a few games I'm all digital. Love the convenience of it and with the Switch being region free, I'm able to shop around various country's Eshop's for the best deal so it doesn't really work out any more expensive than buying physical from Amazon or the likes. I haven't traded in games since my high school days back in the early 90's so not having that choice is of no concern to me.

As for the future with the risk my games will be removed from the Eshop and if I lose my Switch or it gets damaged those games will be lost, or the inevitable day the Switch Eshop closes and my whole library is lost forever. I'm 40 year old, soon to be 41. The day the Eshop closes and/or removes the ability to redownload my games, I'll be in my mid 50's. If I'm even still playing games at that time, or if I'm even alive, I'll be playing on the latest Nintendo console and the online service will have expanded enough by then that my retro needs will be more than covered.

Perhaps that's when they'll add SNES games 😁

Physical for the most part. Although, I don't mind buying physical(or indie games that have a physical version) on the eShop as long as the download isn't TOO big. I love collection cases and having the carts, but those extra gold coins from buying digital is nice. Can't go wrong either way imo.

As long as they don't reset their entire classic game library again you mean. Seriously why can't they keep the same "classic game selection" across multiple generations but just keep adding to it?

I generally prefer digital nowadays. On Xbox One I’m going 100% digital because it’s so much more convenient, and they often have fantastic sales on the Xbox Store, even on pretty new games. Also, discs have always been pretty boring anyway.
On Switch on the other hand, I’m going physical for the most part, mostly because of the ridiculously tiny amount of storage space the Switch offers. Also, carts have always been more fun to collect than discs.

awesome reasons all for both sides, I will say when it comes to disk games I was very apprehensive about borrowing or lending because of loss or damage, but when it comes to carts, just the ruggedness of them was always a big plus for me, now I understand those calling themselves "minimalists" having a problem with space, the DS/3DS/NSW carts are so small, that kind of negates that for me, and some argue about loss especially from small size physical media, but, really also not an issue for me, I am a very organized person, so I never lose my stuff, but, perhaps that came with age, again, that's just me

Thanx all for your input, some actually were very convincing on some points
