I don’t have a tv as I do everything streaming can I hook up my switch to the pc monitor rather then a tv
Late, here but my Monitor is a 27" 2440x1440 and has both DP, HDMI, DVI and Audio output. So I can hook both my computer and Docking station to my monitor and play on the same monitor. So if you want a truly HDTV output monitor find out that has DP, HDMI, DVI built in and that will give you best of both options.
After trying the Switch on my gaming PC monitor, everything looked so much more vibrant and responsive. The input lag was so much better as well. Honestly, sitting at a desk with a wireless headset and a PC monitor is the preferred way for me now, if it's a single player game.
Yep as long as it uses the hdmi input. I'm using a monitor myself right now.

You will often get a better performance from PC monitors tbh. Perhaps its the pc master race within me but specs on PC gear is simply better. https://www.progamerreview.com/best-gaming-monitors/ although for consoles a large tv can also be pretty damn sweet.
Any way, in short: Yes, just get one that supports hdmi and you'll be fine.
Club monitor here as well. I don't go for the low latency gaming grade ones though. I prefer NEC's more rugged durable screens where everything is just high quality. Sadly that means no HDR or 4k for me for some time, but Those things take a beating and work forever. And the cables don't hang out the back like the cheap ones, they orient nicely downward.

No that's simply the truth for all the xbox x/ps4 pro those can never compete with a Gaming desktop or gaming laptop setup with 4K. They like to say otherwise but can hold a spit to their name. You SLI as example multiple display try that with xbox x/ps4 pro that isn't going happen.
Nice bit of debate going on here between monitor vs TV. I find both have merits. But when I picked up my 55 inch up to 4K TV I just don't like going back to smaller monitors unless I am sitting at a desk.

It's also worth noting that many TVs we're seeing on the market do a lot of internal post-processing before you're shown the image you want. That process ads a few milliseconds onto your image lag. Modern TVs often have a "Game" or "PC/Computer" setting. This setting is unique from the other image settings on your TV because it allows the image to bypass that extra processing and show you what the video signal shows. You can usually tell if your in the wrong mode if you plug in a PC and you see the edges of the screen cut off. In PC/Computer/Game mode, the image should be well centered and not cropped. Though I personally feel gaming monitors are superior to most consumer TVs, you can still get a good picture on the big screen if you use the right settings.
