My parents just switch to a new wireless network and it works on all consoles and devices except for my Nintendo Switch. I know the Switch's wifi is bad, but can someone tell me their methods of how they fix their Switch's bad wifi reception? Any help would be great.
It's not necessarily that the Switch has bad WiFi, it's that Nintendo consoles typically work best on channels 1 or 11. If I recall correctly, most wireless routers out of the box are set to either automatic or channel 6. I've also put the MAC address for my Switch in my router's DMZ.
I use a netgear brand 802.11 AC router, and have never had an issue with the Switch, even up to 60 feet away, or even outdoors, despite everything suggesting 10 feet be the maximum.
Have you checked the Nintendo.com support forum?

Connect switch to a 5ghz network instead of 2.4. This help improve the speed a little.
Change the mtu to 1500 instead of the default 1400. This also improve the speed slightly.
Change the primary and secondary dns on the switch to googles dns servers.
These are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

This make no sense the last half of the reply. Switching to a 5ghz wifi is best recommened. And your wifi is only as good as the Router Wifi. Blaming NSW wifi is just lame.
What you need to tell is what kinda Router wifi are you using? And then look online for best configuration wifi channels you need to set to get the best wifi usage out of your Router.
I don't understand the sudden surge of people spouting this. The Switch's wi-fi has worked fine for me on several different routers and networks. It even works efficiently using my bloody phone as a hotspot!

The channel affects the Switch's connection though unlike what's mentioned above, my experience is that channels 1-11 provide a garbage connection meanwhile anything else has a good, stable connection. To see which channel your Switch is on you need to go to System Settings and then Internet.
The Switch definitely has worse WiFi range in my experience. It has 0-1 bars and has lots of disconnects if I play in the basement with my router on the second floor, while all my other devices — including my Wii U — get two bars in the basement. If that's not a Switch-specific problem, I don't know what is.

@shadow-wolf There's probably a better way of doing it but I just restart the system until the channel changes. Sometimes it takes 1 restart, sometimes it takes multiple.
Never had issues myself. On virgin 100mb the router is great in my house.
As suggested in another thread you could try wired either via socket based Ethernet adaptors or running a cable. Great solution if your always docked in that location.
A bit hit or miss for me. Some days (maybe once every 2 weeks or so as a guesstimate) it simply won't connect at all, but will have fixed itself later in the day or the next day.
I don't play online that much (more of a single player guy), but I do enjoy MK8D online from time to time, and while it usually works fine, I have suffered the ocassional disconnect.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

It sounds to me like a problem with where you're playing based on the location of the router, not a problem with the Switch it's self. The Switch's ability to receive a wi-fi signal isn't the problem you're having. It's a problem with getting the signal to where you want to play. Did you try moving the router to the first floor, or simply not trying to use your switch in the basement?
What you are saying is like blaming a cell phone for your location blocking cellular network connection. My old apartment was located in the middle of several bluffs, so it only got cell phone reception in 2 very specific locations. This wasn't the fault of the phone people were trying to use, but a problem caused by the building's location vs where the towers were.
Except that whatever is an another device, it always works perfect ! Only the Switch has problem...
It's still sounding like an environmental issue and not an issue with the system. Right now the dock for my switch is located behind a tv but in the same room as the router (I'm not at home btw). And the system occasionally drops connection. But if I undock the system and move across the room to the couch, no connection issues at all due to there no longer being multiple electronics between the system and the router.
