For anybody else having problems, the exterior items need to be placed close to the houses. You can rearrange them later after completing the project.

@Mountain_Man My exterior items were placed near the houses. In fact, I could see the check symbol on them. I don't know why Nook didn't recognise I had finished my task.

Been properly addicted in general since New Leaf. It’s amazing and I can’t wait to see the hour count after day 10. 😂

Anyone know if tree branches lower your HHA score? I’m currently weeding and shaking trees for bells/furniture/wasps, but have so far chosen to leave the branches...

Why not just pick them up?

Work in progress. Pocket space + storage space issue for now.

I gotta say NintendoLife's review really hit the nail on the head. When they talked about how things were starting to feel a little stale right before Resident Services upgrades and then sudden there's a whole ton more stuff to do - they could not have been more right.

I was starting to feel a little meh with the game with how limited everything felt on like days 5 and 6. Just bell grinding for house upgrades and shopping from the tiny selection in the shop (I hope that upgrades at some point!)

But RS upgraded for me today and I can see so much more to do! And terraforming isn't even until later!

@Heavyarms55 Totally agree. My resident services will go under construction tomorrow! Eagerly awaiting Nooks Cranny upgrades, too.

Pro tip: Have an 8-year-old boy join you on your island and you will never run out of things to do. Pick up all the random furniture and fish tanks scattered around the island. Dig up all the stumps and replant trees. Discover which dig sites are fossils and which ones are the items you put outside your house but he stole from you. There is so much more to do than I ever imagined.

@Xyphon22 Yeah... I'm gonna have to pass on that. I'm more than happy staying single with no children. Marriage and kids are over-rated.

Animal Crossing has always been a slow-burn game. It's not designed to be binged and rushed through, and in fact, doing so can ruin the experience.

@Xyphon22... I’m with @Heavyarms55 on this one. 😂 I’d never forgive the kid for wrecking my island! Don’t get me wrong, I love playing video games with my best friend’s boys but there’s no way either of them would ever join my island.

Anyone know what the small update we got yesterday did? Did they patch the duplication glitch?

@Mountain_Man I know it's a slow burn game, I dumped hundreds of hours into New Leaf. The slow wasn't the problem, it was that I already was starting to feel like I had done everything and I'd end up spending the rest of the time just detailing my house. That's why, before resident services upgraded, I was getting disappointed because it felt like there was a lot less to do than there was in New Leaf. But now that it has upgraded, it feels like far more than New Leaf and I can easily imagine spending a long long time customizing the island and building things.

Also I completely agree about rushing. There are a lot of people doing things like mass catching tarantulas or abusing the duplication glitch and raking up huge amounts of bells super fast. And frankly I don't want to do that because I don't want the game to end so quickly!

@BrittGOAL14 Kids are fine - if they go home with their parents at the end of the day. It's a shame I'm an only child, because I think I'd love to be an uncle, but I'm very glad I'm not a parent. I'd be the irresponsible uncle who teaches kids bad words and tells embarrassing stories about their parents - and spoiling the kids with gifts. They can visit my AC island, but they can't live there.

@Mountain_Man @BrittGOAL14 It's awesome details like that that make me all the more shocked that PETA went out of the way to attack the museum in Animal Crossing. I don't see how anyone can look at that museum and think "golly, those animal really have it BAD!"

At least I can kind of understand the fishing thing. The hook through the mouth of the fish would obviously be a pretty horrible experience. But the museum? The animals live in safer friendlier environments than they would be in nature! It's not like we're killing, stuffing and mounting them!

Hook through the mouth isn't a horrible experience. Every other teen has metal pierced through their face, and they think it's cool, not horrible.
Horrible is what comes after hook: Not being able to breath, the blow to the head, the knife sliding in through the knocked out body ripping out the worthless organs, cooking their fresh dead bodies up and eating them - none of which is present in Animal Crossing. It's a good vegan game where you can only eat a healthy selection of fruit and coconuts - and sugary sweets (you get access to only once a year). When catching fish in AC you carefully put every single one in their own brand-new perfectly-sized fishtank where they can live for more than 100 years! Not a bad age for a Guppy! And the Animal Crossing museum is a safe haven for creeplies and fishies, and it's definately more animal-friendly and a lot cleaner than what we can observe in most real life zoos.

Peta's weird sometimes. In their own Switch game (Kitten Squad) you can turn your cat into a pile of bones by standing in a robots chainsaw.

@SKTTR No one enjoys the actual piecing. Once it's healed, they think it's cool. And I can't speak for everyone, but everyone I've ever seen cook a fish kills them quickly. I've never heard of anyone cutting them up alive.
