Topic: Splatoon NX

As we all know, splatoon has been a commercial success so far. So a sequel on NX is likely. Simple topic: what do you want for the sequel?

I'd like live weapon swapping. Maybe a level editor. A longer single player would be cool too.

I want it to be called Spla2n. That would make it an instant buy.

In all honesty, Splatoon was a great first try. The gameplay was amazing and the only current issues I have with it, is the design choices made by Nintendo. Such as the matchmaking, rotations, etc, but hopefully Nintendo is capable of later patching them up. I would love for them to improve upon those issues, allow greater customization to the Inkling, a longer SP, more weapon classes, and the list can go on. They game is great but still has room for improvement, although I doubt we'll get a new Splatoon any time soon, since they can just patch and update the first one for a while.

@Aromaiden: yeah the sequel probably wouldn't be out until like 2018 but I think it's a lock to happen regardless. Perhaps some kind of horde mode too?

I'd love a story where the Octolings are the main characters. However, it might be difficult to do since the Octolings are currently the bad guys.

Edit: It would also be great if they removed the 2 stages at a time per mode limitation. I'd prefer if any released stage could be played. Also, giving all the players a vote on what stage to do next would be nice.

Have standard features that shooters have is a big one I hope they implement in the sequel.

And no silly map rotation. Customization.

@crimsontadpoles: Actually I'm okay with the map rotations, but it would be much better if it was 3 or 4 maps available instead of 2.

@WebHead I would also love it if they allowed you to practice against actual AI, and also if they increased the AI difficulty (allowing us to change it to what ever difficulty we want).

Edit: Also the ability to voice chat with friends or at the very least the ability to better communicate with teammates by customized messages or something around that. I would also prefer that in the sequel, since the first one had already established the franchise, that they don't restrict the opening content. That was a main issue with the first one, but I'm okay with normal updates and DLC.

Improvements in the multiplayer are great and all, but it's not as exciting as adding new game mechanics and stuff like that. I think improving the multiplayer is important but if the sequel is going to stand out they need to do something new as well. I like the idea of playing as an Octoling, I think it'd be neat to have an Inkling vs. Octoling battle online. I can't really think of anything else to add though.

@Bolt_Strike: More dynamic and interactive maps. They could maybe even make you choose between Octolings or Inklings. Like two different classes, with their own strengths and weaknesses. With their own unique abilities and weapons. I see a lot of cool things they could do and improve on.

Wow. Already a thread for this... er.. 'game?' You guys sure act fast.
I just want improvements. Better Inkling customizations, better matchmaking options and... er.. VC.
EDIT: However, what can be put/corrected in a Splatoon NX that cannot be put in the current one?

  • please allowed players to use Hats and Glasses at the same time (i don't understand why the didnt add it in the first place, surely there they could i mean Animal Crossing and i think Tomodachi Life has that feature)
  • More Modes, like they should do one where you protect a base from orther team
  • Longer Story Mode?

I really think there should be more maps in the rotation. Also, let us choose our gear abilities. Its only a matter of time before I get the ones I want, anyway. Other than that this game is amazing (except for my next point).

Not much to say here. I like Nintendo. That's about it.

Am I the only one who thinks that Nintendo intentionally did as much as they could to ruin the chance of a competitive tourney community? Like literally somewhere in development some exec came in and said something along the lines of "Okay your game looks cool and all but make sure there is NO chance of a competitive scene. No one should be able to spectate unless someone's streaming with a $200 capture card. Like not even a replay mode.....you mean that kart game has one? Whatever."

I don't think they purposely tried to ruin it; rather they just didn't place much significance into it being entirely competitive.

I don't think Replays would make it competitive. Soon we will be getting Team Matchmaking and Private Matches, which will greatly increase its ability to be competitive.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

It would also be pretty cool to see some more weapon types and maybe they can allow us to partially customize our weapons designs.

Wouldnt it be more likely that they port the wii U version to the NX and allow the two platforms to play together online.

By the time the NX is out Splatoon will be about 2 years old. That seems like a reasonable amount of time for a proper sequel. If you just port it and allow the Wii U players to play against NX players then anyone with a Wii U copy won't have to spend money on a new game.

2 years doesnt seem the proper time for a sequal especially for a game like this in my opinion. I would think more around 5 years like mario kart and super smash bros.

Here's the deal for me. I would love SplatooNX, but if it doesn't have motion controls, it's instantly out of the running. One of the reasons I haven't bought PvZ: Garden Warfare yet is that I have to fumble around with the stupid right stick.

As for improvements. For the love of God please put voice chat in this game.

I agree. At the very least I would enjoy having the option to use it. It's a shame that Splatoon gets looked down upon due to it not having Voice Chat, and in reality it really shouldn't be difficult for them to give us the option.

Also I wouldn't mind them refining and improving on the combat and abilities in the game.
