So how do people think they should handle the VC for the next system? Release a bunch of games at once like the Wii or drip them like they are doing with the 3DS/Wii U?
At least everything that is available now on Wii U and 3DS should be available on NX day one, and yes, your purchases should transfer over as well.
I agree but for Nintendo to also release N64 and DS VC games from day 1 if they haven't already introduced the service for Wii U (Brain Training does not count as it was just a test and NA didn't get it either)
Sorry, but I'm struggling to form an opinion right now on something that doesn't even "exist" yet. I will come back again in a year (or two) when we actually might know what an NX is and give my thoughts on it then.

I'd say the role of the new Club Nintendo is more important than the new system for this discussion.
In any case I just saw the forum section added and no one had added any threads yet so I thought I may as well chuck this in since it'll rely less on the specific hardware which can only be speculated right now.
Why? One of Nintendo's biggest strengths is a back catalogue of great/legendary games and it would seem like an odd choice not to make use of it let alone not giving people the chance to play catch up on games like Zelda, Mario, Metroid which often has nostalgia and easter eggs from earlier games in their current ones.
"Legendary", I agree on. The "great" part is a subjective measure and I don't really share that opinion, not when it comes to games I didn't play when they were new.
I don't have stats on who buys VC games — those who played those old consoles long ago or newcomers — or who plays VC games either. I'd like to see them, though, since now I'm operating on a single hypothesis. And before people on this site argue against it — do you think the people here are a representative sample of the group Nintendo should have playing on NX? I definitely don't: N should want "new blood", not a group of people who already have higher-than-normal brand loyalty (aka fanboy quotient).
Are VC games played by new gamers? Are they actually played or are they museum pieces on the console launch screen? How big a portion of the "fresh blood" would care to play them?
Is giving those bonuses to this core fanbase worth spending time and effort on the VC?
I think people on the whole are comfortable calling Nintendo's games generally great also VC encompasses the Wii games like Metroid Prime even if they are no longer tagged with VC.
Your hypothesis and rhetorical questions (which I disagree) is all well and good but VC doesn't put off "new blood" so why shouldn't they also want to appeal to the "fanboy quotient"?
We don't have any data on the VC, so for all we know it may be not making Nintendo that much money at all.
True but I often see VC games high on the sales charts, I think it depends more on the huge amount of sales games like Earthbound, Super Mario Bros is offset by the lower sales of Gameboy's Golf which I'm assuming hasn't sold much in which case should they just focus on the older hit games rather than all old games?
With the way Capcom have been supporting VC whilst making a big deal about not investing in games that don't sell well makes me think VC is doing ok in general.
Sales charts? Only Nintendo knows the VC sales, so unless they reveal the numbers themselves, the charts mean nothing.
The statement we don't know the sales of the VC is true but so is a bunch of VC games are popular on the eshop as shown by the eshop charts. If they aren't making money then it's either due to the eshop isn't selling enough in general or the weaker selling VC games are losing loads of money.
the NA/US region is the number one in sales
also I think if it is a handheld they got to put GBA games on it
my idea
NES.Game Boy,Game Boy color,Game Gear,and TG16(when the come to NA)(all from the 3ds virtual console)
Snes,N64,Game Boy advance, genesis(come as 3D classics only on the 3ds so far)(new comers to handhelds)
3D classics(but only in 2D consoles Genesis,NES,and arcade)
also needs to have 2 full size circle pad
keep backward compatibility but only for 3ds and new 3ds games like how ps3 did for ps2 games
need to be as powerful as the Wii u on a handheld
needs to have a 480p screen with captive touch

If several VC titles can stay at the top of the charts for ages without selling many units that would say more about the eShop itself than the Virtual Console.
I hope there is a VC for the next system, along with HD Classics. why not give VC to another softwear house to manage. M2 do a fantastic job with 3D classics
I doubt that they will do any VC on their new system.
Any particular reason why you think that?
The Wii U VC has been lacking, so I'm assuming that it will have even less support for it on the next console, or they might not even do this time around.
And the 3DS VC? You seem to be under the assumption that the NX will be a home console. We know literally nothing about this thing
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Which makes it all the more insane that people are actually having multi-page discussions about it, let alone the fact there is a forum on here dedicated to it.
