Topic: Let's talk names

What do you think would be a good official name for the NX.

If it's a home console:
the Nintendo Prime
the Nintendo 4K
the Wii U Them

If it's a handheld:
I got nothing, I guess they could make a time machine and call it the ds/dt

Handheld: The Jigglypuff

I can see the kids in the playground now: "Let me have a go on your Jigglypuff!"

Home Console: Nintendo Excelsior
Handheld: Nintendo Fantasia
Hybrid: Nintendo Gateway

Nintendo X for home console (I think it's got a nice ring to it...)
Nintendo 4DS (in a fit of creativity...) for the handheld.
Nintendo Cross for the hybrid. Heard that one on here, too. I also like how that sounds.

IMO, they need to drop the DS name. Even as someone who has played video games his whole life, I didn't know the 3DS was a new system until a year in. Why? Because Nintendo releases a ton of hardware iterations on their handhelds, so those new systems that retain the old name can get confusing on first impression (same thing happened with the GBA)

It depends on what Nintendo wants to do. If they want you guys to be happy then.....
Home Console: The Nintendo 7 (consumer: ahh, so a new console? And 7 is bigger than 4. All of the things)
Portable: The Gameboy HD (consumer: ahh, so it's like the Gameboy? Not another DS reskin? And it's HD. Cool!)

But given recent history they don't really care that much. So odds are we'll get...

I'm going to choose names I think Nintendo would decide on rather than ones I'd choose:

I think traditionally the codenames have always been better than what they ended up choosing.

I quite like the name Nintendo NX, or just NX, but being a codename it's unlikely they'll keep it, although they did stick with Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS after announcing them as temporary product names.

For a handheld, I like Game Boy Four - it seems like good progression from one screen, to two screens, to 3DS, and to Four - plus you could argue that it sort of follows Game Boy, Color, and Advance as the fourth Game Boy (not counting Pocket/Light/SP/micro et al).

The codename for the DS was Nitrogen (I think that is a good name as well).

Sony has a bad habit of forgetting to renew trademarks and stuff. Would be insanely funny and amazing if Nintendo did this.

Come to think of it, Netorare is a great name for Nintendo machines because Sony and Microsoft keep stealing users away from them.
