Sort of a let down for me. The wiiU ports seem pointless (especially Mario maker) and many of the new titles don't look that interesting. I will probably get the street pass games as those are always fun, but eas hoping for some expanded VC announcements. The pikmin game may be fun, but making it a side scroller defeats the point of the series in my mind. Guess we will have to wait and see more about how it works. At least it looks like there is still support from Nintendo for the system for the foreseeable future.
I wonder how they'll run on the O3DS. I'm interested on Yoshi and Mario Maker (even without online). Pikmin looks generic.
This blue eye perceives all things conjoined. The past, the future, and the present. Everything flows and all is connected. This eye is not merely seen reality. It is touching the truth. Open the eye of truth... There is nothing to fear.
I hope that that Pikmin game wasn't the one Miyamoto was talking about; I really don't want that game to be Pikmin 4; Don't want another franchise turned into a 2D sidescroller.
Yeah, there was a surprising amount of new game announcements (more than I think anyone would have guessed). In terms of new game announcements...
2016: Picross 3D 2 localization (this is one I've heard a lot of people wanting), Tank Troopers (New IP, looks like it could be fun), new set of StreetPass games (that car one looks really fun, and it's one of the free ones!), and Mario Maker 3DS (a heavily rumoured port, but a pretty exciting announcement nonetheless, IMO).
2017: Mario Super Sports Mix (or whatever it's called. Still, it's new and looks like it may have more to it than some of the other Mario sports games on the system), Poochie & Yoshi's Woolly World (a port, but one I don't think many were expecting, and it looks fun), and Pikmin spin-off (surprised this hasn't been more popular. Yes it's different, but the series has had a liked main entry in recent memory, so it's not like it's in the same boat as Fed Force).
For 3DS gamers, there was plenty to be excited about (especially if they don't own a Wii U, as even the ports would be new games to them). Really, the only way I could see someone saying it was bad or completely uninteresting are those who set themselves up for disappointment by expecting them to talk about systems they explicitly said they weren't going to talk about.
Good showing, IMO.

Just thinking about what these releases mean for Nintendo's strategy in general. I still think it looks like Nintendo is just generally pulling resources away from 3DS/Wii U development. But not so much that they are completely bailing during the period before the NX is out. And in a last minute push for the holidays which platform are they going to support? Not the Wii U.
So what we've got is great but it's mostly low effort, high reward style content. We've got patches and updates for existing games which is great. We got ports of some of the less graphically intense Wii U games. We're also getting quite a few localisations for games either already out or clearly made for Japan. Again making perfect sense.
The new games we did get? Most of them were clearly built on content already out from what I can tell. That Mario Sports collection thing is clearly based on the existing Mario Sports titles on 3DS. The Pikmin game was probably the most original thing on show (and I'm hyped) but it looked a lot like that Chibi Robo game.
Don't get me wrong, this is some great content for the 3DS. I'm sure I'll get a few of these games. But it definitely looks like they're doing a last minute push before the NX is out.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
@RR529 couldnt agree with you more! i;m one of those unlucky few who doesn't own a wii u so i;m pretty happy with MM 3ds and yoshi's woolly world ports. i too am puzzled with the reception the new pikmin game got, we literally got a main line pikmin game this console generation AND were getting another on NX because this obviously isn't pikmin 4, i don't understand why people don't get this. the mii plaza update is great and is going to give me a new reason to care about it again and i'm really looking forward to that animal crossing mini direct.

So, I just watched the new Nintendo Direct....most of it were ports of other games, including Banjo and Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts for the Wii U. Nothing special, but then they started to reveal the NX... ....and then I woke up. lol
