ok what's the name in your mii and how does it look?
maybe, just maybe since it's theory I made up just now, your mii could have something Nintendo found offensive and swapped for a basic generic one.
once again I might be wrong since I'm just saying a possible explanation that crossed my mind.

my MII name was Andrei but the swapped one was called (owen & had new date of birth)
If they found my name offensive then I would be deeply offended as I am orthodox christian & was named after Saint Andrei.

like I've said I have no idea what happened but I'd rather have Nintendo's heavy(and sometimes weird) rules to blame instead of thinking in the possibility of hackers......
maybe a friend/relative of yours messed up to troll you.
oh but if this works like in Pokémon XY some perfectly normal names are banned because part of them are cursings in one(or more) of the supported languages.

Check your other device attached by the same NNID, a.k.a the Nintendo 3DS.
Changes on that 3DS also affect the NNID on Wii U

Please don't say that graphic in games are not important. It hurts me as a game graphic artist.
