Yes, you'd be suprised by the number of girls who played videogames, but it's RARE when they're hot

Yeah, I know lots of socially capable, hygienic, clean-shaven male gamers too.

I think that the majority of gamers is still male is because males are more competitive in nature.

What enlightened times we live in, a gamer should not be judged on the position they toilet, but on the content of their character, I have a dream today.

More women own DSes than men.

But also there's the simple fact that many of the more fashionable women out there will run in horror at the sight of what enters a video game store.

My better half enjoys games and plays them at home. But, about the last place she'd be found in Tokyo without accompanying me is Akihabera.

Unfortunately, while there's plenty of well-adjusted and fashionable people who plays games, there's still enough of the nerd element around gaming centres that it's simply off-putting.

Because most females are afraid of the awesomeness that is gaming.

Most games were advertised to males. However, this is becoming less common, especially on the current Nintendo systems

The ones posting pictures of their sticking out playing Halo on the interwebz don't actually like Halo. They just have daddy issues.

Girls certainly can enjoy halo and be issue free, but I wouldn't generalize female gamers by the sexualized pictures posted on the interwebz. I also wouldn't generalize all females based on internet porn. Maybe it's time to go meet some real life females?

Plus, haven't you ever seen Nintendo commercials? Hot girls play Wii. So put down your Xbox controller and turn on Mario Kart, and you too will be surrounded by beautiful wimmins. They couldn't put it on TV if it wasn't true.

Girls don't actually have to like such stuff, they can be hardcore too in gaming y'know.

those are some interesting generalizations. allow me to address them in order:

(a) just because the only girls you've seen posting images of themselves on the internet playing Halo are all hot and showing off their bodies does not mean there are not other girls waiting in the wings to slaughter their characters in-game. it just means they're the few female Halo players seeking the attention they know it will get them from males, just like any other hot chick showing some skin in a picture posted to the internet.

(b) why assume females can only relate to female characters? i am not a Metroid fan, and probably never will be, and it irritates the heck out of me to see so many people saying 'durr, Samus is female, so girls should play Metroid because they're a girl too'. the gender of the main character holds no power over whether or not I as a person will like a game, and I bet i'm not the only female gamer who feels that way.

(c) there are hot girls who like Mario, and there are not-so-hot ones who button-mash when it comes to things like Soul Calibur. there are girls of all shapes an sizes who enjoy all kinds of video games, just as sure as there are males of all shapes and sizes who enjoy the same games, up to and including those 'simple' games you speak of. also, considering i doubt you personally know 'most' of the 'attractive' women in the world, i think i'm'a take your statement that each and every one of those 'most' women turn their noses up at video games with a grain of salt.

I don't mind if it's a male or female lead unless the female lead is forced. To be honest it's actually mainly movies that annoy me in that area. Things like the Resident Evil movies and the Silent Hill one - two game series which mostly focused on male leads changing them to a female lead just because they think it'd attract more lads to see it. If a female lead is written well - like Ripley from the alien series, then great - but if it's someone like that Alice from Resident Evil who is they try to pass off as a Ripley type character, but really she's just there to be sexy, then it winds me up.
