Topic: Why can't I stop trading-in my precious games?

I seem to be having a problem that started on opening day of EB Games in my hometown. At that time, I had roughly 20 DS games. Right now, I only have my Wii, DSi and whatever digital games I own.

My problem is that I keep trading-in my games to put towards newer games, which means I'm ultimately losing-out. So far I've owned my favourites multiple times (the highest-ranking is Super Mario 64 DS at a whopping SEVEN COPIES!!!!) I don't know what to do, because I know that as soon as I get a new game it's doomed to be a trade-in. Please help

You just have to discipline yourself. I had the same problem-I totalled it up and I lost 317 dollars from trading in games. I learned my lesson. One way is to just buy digital games, but that would suck. You just need to discipline yourself. Maybe make a list of which game you want the most. Another is to develop OCD [if that's possible], and then get a game case that holds 4 games. Then, you will be compelled to always have 5 games [one for your DS] and you will never want to get rid of one! [but then what would you do if you wanted to buy more games.]
To be quite serious, I don't think we are the people to help. We have no control over what you spend and do, so you need to ask someone who does. Ask your Dad or Mom not to let you turn any games. You just need to have self-discipline.

Just let it happen.

The best thing to do is be more careful about what games you buy. I would suggest you stick to games like Rythym Heaven and Mario Kart-they have lots of replay value. Some games [with heavy storylines like Professor Layton] are really fun while you play them, but they get boring after you beat them-there isn't any replay value.

throw the game cases away as soon as you get them!

Well, I have sorted out with EB Games to sign a contract forbidding me from trading in a single game, console or accessory. All I have to do is sign it and I'm all good to try again! "YAY ME!!!!"(...said the hotel owner's daughter...)

Um...don't trade them in. Seriously, if you do feel the need to trade/sell games, use ebay or something, where you get the market price and not the market price marked down by 50% so eb games can take some profits.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

dont ever sell games to gamestop or EB games, they give you crap prices. give them to a more local or more preferably retro game store and theyll give you more cash

I only trade in games I find or games I hate or gifts that don't appeal to me, so far I have enough credits to buy an Xbox 360 and about four games. (Most of the credits were from my old friend who gave me all of his games for no reason)

ebay is the way to go if you want good prices. as long as they're kept in as new condition, you can often get a price very close to what you bought it for. but wow 7 times for sm64ds... only sell the games you know you're not going to play again, or you know is not worth keeping for the money it's worth. look at reviews for games so then you can get an idea of what games are worth keeping cause if they've got a good score you can be sure that you'll most likely play it again or it's worth keeping.

Wow... I've never traded a game in... I guess you could call me a collector. Really... Any book/game/movie or anything else that has to do with one of my hobbies, I am loathe to every get rid of... I guess I value the memories that go along with the object too much

I don't believe in selling or trading in my games. I always keep them...

I dont know, NintendoPurist, all you have to do is stop though. If you mean you traded in your copy of SM64 DS 6 or 7 times, then that is just ludicrous.

I had that same problem.
I traded in almost all of my gba games, 2 ds games (Kirby Super Star Ultra, and The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass, and spider man 2) and I traded in excite bots trick racing.

Maybe You should discipline your self. (That's how I stopped my habit.)

Well, I wonder if Nintendopurist got over his problem....

Though I suspect he eventually traded in his Wii for a copy of Hannah Montana: World Tour.
