With the topics on health care, spirituality and gun control showing the gool old-fashioned differences between left and right I got curious about the political views of the people here at Nintendo Life. Are you a family values sort of person or a secular civil liberarian? A socialist or an economic libertarian? A pacifist or a gun-owner? Share it.
The way this works is that is shows, rather than the traditional two-dimensional left-right model, it shows how economically left- or right-winged you are as well as how authoritarian or libertarian you are on issues such as religion, abortion, homosexuality, gun control etc.
This way we can distinguish four basic directions across two axes:
Libertarian Left: More government control on economy, less on personal values. (Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Ghandi, Michael Moore) Authoritarian Left: More government control on economy as well as on personal values. (Joseph Stalin, Fidel Castro) Libertarian Right: Less government control on economy as well as on personal values. (Milton Freedman) Authoritarian Right: Less government control on economy, more on personal values. (Augusto Pinochet) And then there is off course the political centre which is around the place where the two axes intersect. (Barack Obama. Bill Clinton)
Please note that this website is based of the global political spectrum. What is considered mainstream left in the US, for example, is often considered centrist or even just slightly to the right by European standards so keep that in mind.
I myself consider myself to be part of the libertarian left. I'm a moderate socialist who believes in basic government action to sustain basic healthcare, schooling and other infrastructures for which i'm willing to pay my taxes. I oppose an unregulated, neoliberal free market capitalism which will eventually blow itself up like it did in September. In the long run I think that's a failed economic ideology much like communism was back in 1989 which was the other hardcore opposite and didn't work either. Both were too radical in my opinion.
On the other hand I'm a secularist. I oppose laws that restrict the freedom of women for abortion and I support euthanasia for terminally ill people. I also support gay marriage rights and I have no problems with legalized softdrugs for recreative or medicinal purposes. I'm against legalization of harddrugs such as LSD and cocaine and not really keen on free gun ownership either as I'm relatively pacifist.

This might sound funny but if you take in account communism and other crazy radical ideologies from all over the planet they are relatively moderate politicians.

I hear ya, Rensch, but you said it right there - crazy, radical ideologies. They're not within the spectrum of acceptability to most evolved, reasonable minds. Or to put it another way, dirt might taste great if poop is your crazy, radical alternative.

Thanks for the laugh though - for real.
I understand but for the the Political Compass test you have to count them in for the sake of it being accurate. And by our European standards Obama is only slightly to the left or even centrist, really.
EDIT: I found that the website even places Obama and Biden just slightly to the right on economic issues.
I think it´s hard to put me in a single corner. On a private level I am kind of conversative and support the ideas of "good family values", "mild authoric education" and something protecting childrem from themselves (f.e. 14 years old girls clothing like hookers). I hate a lot of that shit on the TV or what the kids hear and read today.
But for economics I support left (not liberal) ideas and think a company should serve its customers and workers and not stock holders. Managers should not be so much overpaid and factories should not be moved in forgein countries just for saving some money. When did that behaviour start ? 80s ? 90s ? Maybe that view is kind of right too...
In politics... well I am mostly "protective". In my eyes the multi cultural society cant work, just check your local prison, and earth becoming a "global village" removes the local roots from the people and makes them feeling homeless. That kind of globalisation that gives a frenchman in Roqefort accsess to every kind of cheese from whole the world, but at the same time kills the traditional local Roqefort-Cheese manufacturers.
The country or area isnt even that important. Feeling "british" or "bavarian" is OK, but I wish that people should still be united under something more important.
Independent all the way..... No offense to anyone British I swear, but America is becoming the Britian that the Pilgrims declared independence from. Europe is now trying to become more like America once was and America is doing the direct opposite. Its doesnt matter who is in office because they are all the same. They are all crooked and have people they have deep ties with that got them where they are that they will repay with tons of our money in higher offices, that is how it works. So like Corbie said. Bent Over a Table. That is what all Americans are and if you dont realize that, well then you are literally brainwashed by a Goverment Owned Media. Dont believe that then find out where you get you new sources from. General Electric owns most all of them and you will find that ohhhhhh Our Politicians are promising GE all the "Green Energy Contracts" worth over 9 trillion dollars estimate if they sway there side of the views and there you have it. America, in its sad current state.

GE owns NBC and MSNBC. I will NEVER watch those news channels.
Some of the questions in this quiz are poorly worded and presumptuous, though, so I wouldn't put much stock in the results.
Yeah, the options for the answers are incomplete as well (a lack of a no opinion/unsure choice is the most obvious). More of a fun little thing to do than a true measure.
