Everyone's got their own idea of a perfect, cozy gaming session. Maybe it's laying in bed with your Switch and some headphones all night, maybe it's at your desk with a cup of coffee, maybe it's on the couch while your significant other watches something on TV. It's a bit of a niche subject matter, but one I always found sort of fun, so I figure I'd ask you all. What's your ideal gaming session like? When do you find the time to play, and how do you get into your zen state for your session? Like I said, super niche subject, but I think it could make for some fun ice breakers.
Idealism and realism are only a few letters apart, it's a fine line between the two. One must be careful not
to step too far on one end, as it could very easily throw the other off balance.
For me, I play in my living room with one lamp turned on and an ice cold bottle of Ito En green tea. It's simple, but it's what gets me into my zen state. Helps me to really focus on the game.
I play in three places, either in the living room on my nice 70in TV sitting on my couch with a cold beer near me, in my bedroom on a 55 inch TV or on my laptop.

I like playing in my game room, that has my 55 inch TV and my couch. It's my favorite place to play games. I sometimes play my 3DS/Switch while I'm laying on my bed/couch, too... lately I've also been having a DVD/blu-ray running in the background while I play my Switch in handheld mode.
@MarioVillager92 I usually end up doing that too. I know some might find it a bit weird, but I tend to enjoy just muting a game, putting on a show and just chilling. I oddly feel more productive in a game that way than I do trying to fully immerse myself sometimes, though that's probably just my weird line of thinking. (Not every time mind you, I don't dislike fully immersing myself, I just find myself more comfy this way.)

I’m a handheld gamer from the very beginning so if I’m outside, or even on the ocean or in the air, i still get a thrill having a game to play on the spot. So my answer is various locations, lol
My game room. Time of day determines with or without headphones.

At home I got a 55 inch telly and can sit on the couch at a safe distance, but at uni things are a little more crowded. For the Switch I have a 30 inch television sat on the desk, but for the PS5 I have a projector that projects at least 100 inches, though the flimsy chair does a number on my back 😂.
@Novamii Oh that's all right, I'd imagine that would also help you to at least hear the movie/show you're having in the background. I tend to keep the game sound on regardless, at a comfortable volume of course. I do this for movies and shows I'm already familiar with.
Living room = Sofa + coffee table + all consoles hooked onto TV + snacks / drinks
I'd love to be able to hook up all my consoles to the living room TV - too much resistance from my spouse though! I currently just about get away with the Xbox Series X & Switch, although I recently managed to sneak the PS3 into the rack and it took her a week or so to notice 😅 The rest are all upstairs. The cables are all hooked into a smaller screen in the bedroom next to the (non gaming) PC and just plug in the console I want to use at any one time as I don't have the space upstairs to have them all out at once - plus it's a pain dusting them all!
Triple-decker toasted sandwich, tall glass of milk, recliner, no school work, new game ready to play, and the only HD TV in the house available to play in..
It depends on the type of game I'm playing and the mood I'm in, but usually if I'm doing something in a game that doesn't require reading/listening I like to have a YouTube documentary playing in the background, like a Jenny Nicholson video or something. Especially if I'm playing a relaxing puzzle game, grinding in an RPG, or looking for collectibles in an open world game. I lay down on my couch in my weighted blanket and am totally relaxed.
As much as I play handheld, probably the cosiest setup I've had in recent years was just a few weeks back. It was a work day but I was feeling ropey so just put myself on 'appear offline', got into the spare room bed which has a small LCD TV on the wall at the foot of it. Split joy cons in hands, just able to lie in whatever position I wanted and play. Played Animal Crossing for hours that day.
The cosiest memory before the above was probably another time I was ill. Was recovering from flu and in bed all day with my N3DS, playing Ocarina of Time 3D. Unforgettable.
@gcunit Yeah, not sure what it is but playing a really good game when you're stuck in bed just hits different. Did that with Kid Icarus: Uprising and got so attached I beat half of it in a single sitting, barely even thought about my illness at the time. Doesn't always work, but when it does, it's great!

To be in my "office" room, at my crafting desk and being close to my gaming systems so I can just turn on the latest generation or easily hook up a retro console
It is raining outside, and I choose some handheld gaming with "The Office" playing in the background on the big TV.
