I told my wife straight up, Ive been playing games since I was 3 and I will play them to the day I die.
That being said. Marriage is a responsibility, as well as just getting older comes with a lot of responsibility. No longer can you sit and play games all day on the weekens as there is grass to be cut and house to be cleaned, etc. You have to spend time with you significant owner as well, but when she is watching TV come evenings and weekends, Im playing games. That is the way it is, and I even have a game room in my house

If a girl/ guy is demanding you give up your hobby, then one of two things has happened: 1) He/ she is clingy. 2) You spend too much time playing games for a relationship to work.
Either way, he/ she should be graduating from girlfriend/ boyfriend to significant other in the first place.

Yeah, this. In a reasonable relationship there should be times when you are "separate" from your significant other, otherwise you'll go mad. For me, that time is filled playing games or reading books.
I'd have to choose games. Not because I care about games more than anyone else, but if I'm with someone who doesn't like me for who I am, I don't need to be with them. I can understand if they want me to pay more attention to them or something, but if I'm with someone who hates video games so much they demand I give them up...sorry, not gonna happen. That's a part of who I am.

I was in this same situation a while back, my girlfriend told me it was "us" or my Epic Mickey pre-order. What can I say? -I'm really going to miss her.
idk... in my experience, the knowledge that no one person can be right all the time, not even you, and the understanding that it's okay to be wrong is the key to a healthy relationship. unfortunately, both parties need to be at that level of maturity together -- if one gives the other hell for it, that'll drive a stake through a relationship pretty quick. :/
And that opinion is why you will never win.
cute, but i learned long ago that winning isn't everything, and I'm much happier for it. :3

When winning involves a prize of beer, this attitude is flat out wrong.
It really would depend on how much you like the girl. If you really think you like her, maybe. If your relationship has been on the rocks recently, ditch her.

Well, once again, if she's not tolerant of your gaming hobby, then you're not compatible (regardless of whose fault it is - if you're the one playing too many games, or she's the one demanding too much of your time, you're not compatible)
So really, if you "really like her" it's just a physical reaction.

thats a tough desicion. of course, you love the significant other MORE than the games i would hope so, at least but youve spent years and years collecting the games. ultimately, i would seek out a compromise. maybe get rid of all consoles and just keep handhelds, or just get rid of every last gen game. that sorta thing (oh, and im sure O_B can tell you that it sucks when you see your entire hobby vanish in an instant)
@lz: i wouldn't, but i get the feeling you might :3

Meh, if things had gone more sour with my WIi being wiped, I woulda just sold it and the games to buy more games for other systems. Hobby survives.
