Like everyone else here, I come to get the latest news and read reviews. I love to read different reviews of the same game to feel out how it is being received. It seems obvious to me that Nintendo either pays for people to give them stellar reviews or that nostalgia, in fact, is far more powerful than I realize--just my opinion, I don't think every game they are involved with should automatically get an 8.5 or higher. ANYWAY, I love reading the reviews, sometimes agreeing, sometimes disagreeing strongly. But I always laugh when people write, "great review". This brings up two questions in my mind: are they giving praise because they agree with the author?(self loving/acceptance) or do they actually think that they are knowledgeable about technical writing and are genuinely excited about their composition (sickos!)
The world may never know. Someone please explain to me what constitutes a "Great Review"...in your opinion, of course. There are no right or wrong answers here, just as there are no good or bad reviews. (in my opinion) ;p
No such thing as a 10--ever

"No such thing as a 10" - www.nintendolife.com/scoring
10 - PerfectOf course no game is ever truly perfect, but a score of ten indicates that it is as close as it can get to perfection in the current climate of games. We don't dish this score out lightly, this is a genre defining game that we absolutely feel you should own.

I made Kid Tripp! PocketGamer gave it a 9 out of 10! You should totally buy it now!

If no game is "truly perfect" it would be a 9.9 or lower, 9.5 to please the OCD fans.
10 assumes perfection, there's even a saying, how's it go...."perfect 10"

Pixelman, my point is not to question the site's scoring system, although I obviously don't agree on the "10 issue", but to see what other people enjoy in a review.

No offence, but this sounds like it might get a little pedantic.
Great writing + Honesty + Detail = Great review

Is that a "great review" of yourself?
13. Posted: Mon 14th Sep 2009 19:25 BST
Yep. I jotted down a few quick pros and cons so you can decide whether or not I'm worth your money.
Pros:-So handsome-More intelligent than Bruce Wayne-Snappy dresser
Cons:-Sneezes a lot-At some point I'm going to die
Score: 8/10, points down for lasting appeal

I don't give a rats ass who made the game. If it's good, it's good. If it sucks, it sucks. I'm not paid anything for a good review, so I'm not giving one out if I don't think it deserves it. Nintendo first-party stuff is normally top shelf, so it should come as no surprise that they get good scores. We don't have a .5 rating system, otherwise many of these might get a 9.5 instead of a ten. But some are just too good to give a 9 to. And if you're doubting for one second that Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story isn't a 10, try it out and then come talk to me.

Lots of waggle, but it's smart waggle so it doesn't feel stupid. Not compatible with the Balance Board but works nicely with the Wii Wheel.

Oooh, sounds like a trick. I guess I'll jump in the net and buy the game. But I won't think it's a 10!!!!

and Corbie, I don't mean to single you out in all this. Good review.

Well I still find it tough to give out a 10, as that normally signifies "perfect" but with no 1/2 point system in place, sometimes the game is just so good I can't give it a mere 9. Sometimes I waver between a 9 and 10, but with Bowser's Inside Story, I didn't have any doubt. It's amazing!
