Bad news, folks! I do own the japanese cartridge of the collection and it does not get the update which includes the translations. I tried everything from deleting the updates, redowbload them, even deleted the save data in the Nintemdo Online Cloud.

Any ideas?

@Tasuki after reading the Nintendo UK site:

https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch/Collection-o...

It says that Secret of Mana can be played up to 3 players and Trials up to two player

Also says it is on switch game card, therefore physical is coming (to the UK)

@MaxlRoseGNR The English translation for Seiken Densetsu III was never an official thing by Square so I wouldn't expect it to be part of the Japanese version. The translation patch was actually original done by a guy to translate the ROMs for use in emulators back in the day.

Now that the collection (as well as a remake of Seiken Densetsu III) are coming to the west, it makes sense now for Square to have an official translation. Which I suspected casued the game to take away coming to the West.

Basically the Japanese version is not going to have a language option.

@Bunkerneath Ok that makes sense. IIRC the original Seiken Densetsu III was two players, however like the translation patch an unofficial patch to use with emulators did make it 3 players. I have a repro cartridge of it and it can be played with 3 players like Secret of Mana. I am not sure why the remake is only single player but perhaps the original was as well and I am just remembering it wrong. For the record I only played the translated ROM since we'll I don't read Japanese.

I played a little bit of SD3 when I was younger by... means... and as someone who hasn't really delved deep into the series, I'm picking up Collection of Mana. Trials of Mana looked pretty so I might pick that one up, too. I need more retro action RPGs in my life, after all.

It's been so long I'm playing through the first two before I give ToM a go. Get that sweet nostalgia in. I do wish they included booklets in the collection though..

Watched the Treehouse on Trails of Mana and was blown away!

I played through a Seiken Densetsu 3 translation on my SNES Mini last year. The environments and characters were fresh enough in my mind to make witnessing the ostensibly seamless transition to 3D surreal; almost jarring. I heard "Powell" come on and was sent blissfully adrift. I'm anticipating this'll bring me some great entertainment. Can't wait!

Nothing you can do...they are separate isos. This English version is not a patch. I am assuming there was not an English language Asia region version for you to buy. Personally I'm grateful as I've gotten burned buying games in Japanese only to get stuck with English when I didn't want it.

Just watched some of the footage of the Trials of Mana remake. Game looks awesome. Almost like an Ys game.

That's definitely going to be one to look out for in 2020.

So with Trials this means the first 3 mana/seiken games have all been remade right? Here is hoping for switch releases for the other two.

@Ryu_Niiyama The Secret of Mana remake came out last year and Trails (Which is Seiken Densetsu III) is coming out next year. Sword of Mana on GBA was a lose remake of Seiken Densetsu and which came out in NA as Final Fantasy Adventure and Europe as Mystic Quest.

They have the original games on the Switch with the Mana Collection.

@Tasuki Yeah, but what about adventures of mana? That was for Seiken I.

Edit: Nevermind Canis beat me to it. Either way this would make all 3 redone. Granted Adventures is a straight remake of I and not Shin/Sword.

I know it's too late, & DLC will likely never happen, but for $40 it would have been neat to include Seiken Densetsu 4 / Dawn of Mana.
Yeah the game isn't great, but it would have been a nice inclusion.

@XBontendo they may sell it later after porting the first 3 remakes.

@XBontendo Actually Dawn of Mana is not part of the original Seiken Densetsu series (The original just were the three) but instead a Spin-off series called the World of Mana series which compossed of Children, Dawn, Friends and Heroes of Mana so its not Seiken Densetsu IV.

@faint : If you have ordered a Japanese copy of Seiken Densetsu Collection, I would advise that you cancel it immediately as it will not include English. If a Japan-only game does not include English at launch, do not expect it to have it patched in later on as this (as far as I'm aware) has never happened before on Switch or is too rare to warrant mention.

There will be English-language physical releases available in the US, Europe, and possibly Australia as well in late August.

@MaxlRoseGNR : As above.

Link to the Treehouse gameplay for those that haven't seen! It looks really great, so excited

Now I hope for the Legend of mana remake or something...

I've heard decent things about the latter two games in Collection of Mana, but never a lot about the first game. Is this one also well worth playing?
