I loved the series and I really liked the Remake of the orignal RE1 I have it on Wii RE0 and also RE4,I think the whole Discarding your itemsthing in RE0 was you either Liked it or you hated it in my case Liked it because it was some what of an improvement to me because you could finally discard your items anywhere and not just go to a set box to leave your items like in other RE games.

Playing through RE4 the first time through was so fun because It was scary and exciting I played through it about 3 times though just so I could get the infinite rocket launcher and I really hated those dam Ganados with the chainsaws especially the women Ganados in mercenaries.

Hearing a chainsaw revving in the distance scares the heck out of me!

I've only played a the original and a bit of RE5. They were certainly enjoyable, to say the least. I've seen a lot of RE4, and it certainly looks great, I might get that one next. I probably won't get it soon, though, since I already have Dead Space to hold me over. Anyways, RE is definitely a series I want to get into. I never really liked the "Horror" aspect of Survival-horror games, but I think I could do a lot worse than the stuff in the Resident Evil games.

Is the Dino Crisis series an official spin-off, or is it just supposed to be a coincidence that the games seem so much alike?

Hey Mickeymac, which version of Resident Evil 1 is on PSN? Is it the original Director's Cut or is it the Dual Shock version that only has the newer (and crappier) soundtrack?

it says Director's Cut, but it does mention that it's the Dual Shock edition. I don't even remember the game ever even having any music anyways, so I don't see it being a big deal.

Still a great game, whether or not it has the original soundtrack. If you don't like the horror aspect of survival-horror games, than you would probably still like the RE games. It's hard to explain, but I've always considered them a "fun" type of scary, like a haunted house or something. You should stay far away from the Silent Hill games though

Actually, since Silent Hill is suposed to be more about psychological horror, which I really like, I think I might be able to get into it. I just don't like Monster Movie/slasher kind of horror. Especially if it has Zombies in it. RE only gets away with it because it's more "hilarious" than terrifying, and has loads of puzzle and adventure elements to space out the scares. Well, the first game is, anyways. RE5 was kind of scary, but it's still more "survival" than horror.

It's not really a spin off, just Capcom trying to cash in on RE. The first Dino Crisis isn't bad at all, but take the dinosaurs out and put zombies in and you'd swear it's RE. Dino Crisis 2 is quite different and much faster paced, setting it apart from the RE franchise. Dino Crisis 3 kinda sucks (that should be expected with a game featuring dinosaurs in space).

I'm a huuuuuge fan of the resident evil universe!
I got:
(GC) RE0: Zero
(GC) RE1: Remake
(GC) RE2
(GC) RE3: Nemesis
(GC) RE4
(WII) RE4: Wii Edition
(WII) RE: The Umbrella Chronicles
(WII) RE: The Darkside Chronicles
(DVD) RE: Genesis
(DVD) RE: Apocalypse
(DVD) RE: Extinction
(DVD) RE: Degeneration

Don't need the RE: Archives Wii-titles, and can't find RE: Code Veronica X (GC) anywhere... :/

I'm probably one of the few who enjoys the pre-rendered backgrounds of the earlier titles. I first played RE on the Saturn and prior to that never played a video game that was really scary. My favorite in the series is the RE remake on GCN and Wii. Its really a stunning game to look at and really fun to play with the inclusion of the crimson zombies. I like RE 4 as well. I'm not crazy with the more action oriented approach of RE 5. I would love to see the series go back to a creepy old mansion with zombies again.

I'm loving the sound of all the additions in RE5: Gold/Alternative Edition. Some of these include (SPOILERS): new costumes, new playable characters like Rebecca, Barry, and BoobLadyVillian (I always forget her name), and new side-stories (one is the flashback in the castle heavily referred to and the other is towards the end when two key characters are trying to escape and get a helicopter for Chris and Sheva. The former chapter also adds a new enemy with a big freakin' key weapon.) The side stories will also be available as DLC this month, with Gold hitting stores in March. Yays.
