I don't think I ever watched more than a combined 5 minutes of Jersey Shore (MTV is definitely not my thing), but I did know enough about the show to enjoy this:

Even though I can't think of anyone who goes to my school who still watches it (and about two thirds of my school loves dubstep, which shows how cultured my area is), I'm still glad about this happening. While there still are a ton of -shows- networks whose shows promote values I find to be disgusting, Jersey Shore's complete media saturation made it especially terrible imo, and hopefully the lack of a television presence should fragment the popularity of the shows enough to allow for better programming to get onto the airwaves. Or I should just stop trying to watch tv. Probably both.

While this is somewhat off-topic, a group of my friends saw Snooki (and that one guy she's been with recently) at LAX in July. Probably would've done my "Snooki voice" bit I took from a South Park episode at her if I was, though.

Exactly.

Oh well. Hopefully they decide to pick up K-Town.

And liking jersery shore has nothing to do with being cultured.

Oh no, this was like my favorite show, right next to Teen Moms.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

If only they'd show the same mercy to the Simpsons.

Take that back.If something, it should be Family Guy.

They should both be cancelled in favor of promoting Futurama and American Dad. Futurama is really underrated considering how hilarious it is.

With a show this successful, I highly doubt any of them will be out of a job for very long, if at all.

The people that the show follows, perhaps. But all those behind the scenes don't get the same exposure they do.

Not true, they will simply move on to working on a new show for MTV, or some other network.

Having something like that on your resume will still help quite a bit, though.

Yeah, I'd imagine if I was like a cameraman for the show and mentioned that I filmed a particularly nasty fight that just about any reality show production house or news show would want me. Actually, I just looked up the production company that's been handling Jersey Shore and they're also doing Repo Games and a couple of other MTV shows. I'm sure there aren't that many people that've been cut directly as a result of Jersey Shore's cancellation.

Exactly.

I see this as a positive.

In my mind I see that timeslot being filled with something of actual cultural value, and those... people... that watched this show would discover a passion for worthwhile TV.

And then I realise the reality is that the show will be replaced by something that scrapes an even deeper bottom of the barrel, and the positive becomes a negative.
