Pessimist. x_x This is a 2D Sonic, not a 3D Sonic.
Actually to be fair Sonic team hasn't produced a decent title in a while, so pessimism is only natural, and I suspect it will actually be 2.5D rather than actual 2D sprite based, though either one would be better than 3D, the question is can Sonic Team stop themselves from adding needless characters and gimmicks, just because it will be more old school in gameplay doesn't mean it will be free from a few bad habits they have picked up over the years, here's hoping they get it right.

You make a point there, and I'm also hoping they get it right. But if they mess this up, SEGA should quit working with Sonic Team, period. They are a bunch of world-class morons.
To put my case to rest, and not to sound like a total douche, but nowhere in the video does it say "Sonic 2D" adventure, it just says, "2D adventure"...and like I said before, people would assume right away that's Sonic, so why couldn't they just go ahead and show Sonic in the video, like why is he so hidden, besides the HD awesomeness? And in that picture in the end of the video, what is the HUGE lump in front of it's head? Sonic doesn't have that, it looks like he's wearing a French Berret...

Wow, you do not like ANY Sonic games AT ALL.
Well, I liked the first three and S&K. It was a steep slide downhill after that.
