Topic: Politics, respect, community standards

This is in regards to derailed threads like the following --

but refers to lots of threads Ive seen on Nintendolife in 2020.

The leftwing/rightwing back and forth yadda yadda yadda on this site is really to much. Extremely unpleasant behavior that just goes against the spirit of this website, like calling people fascists, communists, socialists, whatever it may be, because you just dont like someone, and not because theyve actually said anything that proves they are extremists, is rampant. I'm asking the moderators and community leaders here to do something about it, because its just completely out of hand. If were gonna discuss political topics here, then the moderation needs to be 1) extremely quick to lock a thread if people won't behave 2) quick to ban people after warning them and 3) CLEARLY SETTING OUT THE RULES AROUND TALKING POLITICS HERE.

Please, I'm asking as someone who usually enjoys reading the forums, do something. The political bs that overwhelms the rest of the internet doesn't have to kill this place too.

I agree with alot of what your saying but in the world people will be mean and to tell you the truth, this site gave me some backbone, Learning to treat people nicely or when to defend or not to defend yourself, Even tho it may seem crazy its been like this for a long time, and there is lots of moderadors and they will close a article or comment if you report it, they move really fast trust me I have reported before and it was removed just like that, And if you want to call a moderador just typ @ and the name its really easy, so far I think the site is just fine but hey my opinoin can change overtime.

this right here proves that they do there job and they do it right, I think they do a amazing job with this site And I have never complaned about there sevice.

I find it quite ironic that this has come off of the back of the topic about about censorship, and you are actively asking for people to be censored just because you don't agree with what they are saying or feel it took a thread off of your perceived course.

I agree if someone posts something highly offensive or aggressive the comment should be deleted, but to ask for the complete removal of certain topics because you don't like them is a little bit over the top.

@JustPlayNow Now that you're part of nintendolife, you may find yourself to be the first responsible adult on the scene if article comments, or a forum thread, get inappropriate posts. I like to help keep the tone respectful here, and don't mind helping out with the report button.

There are a few people that can skew toxic, but not toxic enough to get banned, and those users get the ignore button. I think I have three people on the ignore list.

@WoomyNNYes sure do hope I’m not one of those three😂😂😂 I tend to stay cheery and keep my own personal political opinions out of everything. It’s not like any of you really care anyways.

@WoomyNNYes I'm a responsible adult - Not responsible enough to sit at home and watch the cat according to the Mrs. but responsible enough to not be too much trouble online, I would like to think so anyway.

@JustPlayNow The ignore button is like your personal ban button in a way. If someone is just being a jerk just use that and then you don't have to worry about them.

But in my opinion Politics are just something better left talked about somewhere else then here and of course you will always have someone disagree with you when it comes to politics is one reason I don't discuss politics much.

As a friend of mine use to say want to make enemies fast, bring up politics or religion.

@JustPlayNow The good thing about NL is that the active user base seems large enough to where ignoring a handful of users shouldn't negatively impact your site experience. Reporting will also help if you feel any comments are offensive, and, for political conversations, I think that's any time a label is used directly towards another user. In general, political discussion on the internet is a terrible experience unless you know you're in like-minded company.

You could always just bring up real political topics of conversation in the arguments to sedate people into being polite.

Whilst we all agree fan voted games of the year awards, people’s freedom to see underage cartoon bewbs and Brie Larson are hugely important to us all people will soon lose interest once you bring up trade agreements, White House press briefings and the PM questions into the mix. ;p

I definitely agree with what you said.
Like others have said in this Forum, the mods do come in and do their job with deleting comments, banning users if they need to, and closing forums as well. Actually, it's against the Nintendo Life Community Rules to talk about politics.
Usually, Nintendo Life is pretty civilized (for the most part) and is actually (IMO) one of the most civilized gaming websites there is out there. However, sometimes the comments do turn into "Twitter Mode" rather than "Nintendo Life Mode".
I hope this clears things up for you. Also, if you're new here then welcome to NintendoLife, and I hope you have no more issues with any users here.
