This pretty cool picture appeared on my Facebook feed from a friend commenting on it and I thought it was pretty cool.
I would personally be an Ice/Dark type since I love the 80s, with a pinch of Bug (game music), but with Ice being the primary one. What types would you be? If what you listen to isn't there you can probably squeeze it in somewhere, and if you listen to more than two, then you can put those in as well. It's just for fun
I'm so confused. I listen to a lot of electronic music, and that stuff is hard to classify just by listening to it, unless you listen to a LOT of stuff rom the same genre. So I don't think I'll be able to come out with a clear answer to this for a while, until I truly get a grasp of what I actually like in the music I listen to.
I listen to glitch hop, eurodance, orchestral and especially stuff like metal and rock orchestral/symphonic, I like combinations of different music genres like Yasuharu Takanashi's celtic+rock+orchestral combinations from the Fairy Tail OST, Toshiro Masuda's rock+traditional japanese combinations from the Naruto OST, and Kajiura Yuki's BOND-esque and Enya-esque OSTs for Tsubasa and .hack//. I listen to cheesy Asian pop and I can listen to vocaloid music forever, I love some of Alstroemeria's and CYTOKINE's lyricless trance and techno stuff (like whatever the hell this is), as well as a bunch of other doujin circles such as Tutti Sound (sort of war-ish orchestra like Two Steps From Hell) and EastNewSound (uh... some sort of electronic pop) and even country and odd stringed instruments when they're combined with a good beat like the Bastion OST. The thing is, I love Drum n Bass, Drumstep, and Melodic Dubstep, but regular Dubstep to me sounds utter trash.
So yeah, no idea where I stand, except that I know I listen to a lot of game music, very likely for nostalgia value because listening to some songs from games I've played make me cry or get hyped up because of the nature of the game.
Used to be shadow dark/steel, but evolved into a bug a couple of years ago (music pretty much disappeared from my life. I only listen to some game soundtracks, and quite seldom, too). Maybe I'll go back to my original type someday.
I guess the closest thing to classical music on there is Grass Type, so I could be a Flying/Grass type who knows a Bug move. So, a Tropius? Damn, 5 weakness.
EDIT: Oh wait, classical music is under Dragon. Look's like I'm a Dragonite
I'm not really limiting myself to any genres, but based on what I listen to the most, I suppose I'm a Rock/Dragon type... which makes me a Tyrantrum. Not a fan, but okay.
Dragon/Rock would be closest, I guess. Definitely a big fan of acid/psych rock and early heavy metal, as well as classical. Really no interest in grunge or noise rock, find the vast majority of prog rock to be boring, and have no idea what "neo-psych" is though. I also listen to a lot blues and jazz, but with that said...
Only type with blues up there though is Ground, but Johnny Cash is the only country/rockabilly/americana artist I can stand. I get the feeling that's referring to Memphis or Texas blues, southern styles that have a lot of country influence. More of a Chicago or Detroit blues guy.
And given what jazz is grouped with, I'm thinking it's more referring to vocal jazz like Sinatra or Fitzgerald. Which is good music, I like it, but that's not my go-to style when I'm in the mood for jazz. Bebop and hard bop are my thing. But I like some soul and R&B, so maybe Flying would describe my taste fairly well too.
Actually, even though my most preferred genres fall under Dragon/Rock, Flying is the only type where I actually listen to and enjoy all of the genres listed, so I'll change my answer to that. If I'm a dual-type, I'm either Aerodactyl or Dragonite.
Oh, no love for experimental rock? Guess I'll go for the prog rock route and be a Dragon, then. It's cool cause I love that type, only losing to Psychic in my opinion (which I thought would be related to prog/experimental/noise/(any kind of weird) rock instead of synth-based music).
Oh wow, 15 responses in the time I've been gone. I like to think that if you're more than two types, the other types you pick are kind of like moves you have of a different type to what you are. I guess I'd be a Sneasel or a Weavile that learnt X-Scissor from a TM.
For those of you who don't know who I am, I'm Kirby95, I just changed my username.
I'm honestly not sure what "grime" would be classified as, but I do feel like I belong in the bug and poison types (EDIT: I'm now realizing how iconic this is..) and a little bit of the normal type as well since I prefer soft rock over other music.
Most music I listen too comes from games, remixes, or radio.
Apparantly I would be a Spiritomb. I didn't even know this Pokemon existed. Wow.
But I find these genres a little hard to fit into.
If I am asked I answer that I listen mainly to Alternative Rock (QotSA, Nick Cave, Modest Mouse, Lou Reed, ...), Synth Pop (Auto-Auto, And One, Welle:Erdball, ...) and EBM (Spetsnaz, Fixmer/McCarthy, Dupont, ...).
I also listen to some Pop music, some Industrial (okay, basically only Einstürzende Neubauten and maybe Laibach if you consider it Industrial) and even Rap.
What Pokemon type is "Shadow" anyway? Had to look it up, since I didn't know those two spinoffs.
I didn't know there was a genre called "Dark Cabaret", but since I love Amanda Palmer and The Dresden Dolls, I guess I like this genre too. Got to listen to more bands in this genre, I guess.
Oh wait, SynthPop is Ice (though I don't get why. also I'd think Ambient would also be water rather than psychic). So I guess I could also be a Froslass.
Unfortunately I don't really like any of those two Pokemon, but I guess I'd rather go with Spiritomb. ^^
Yeah some of the music groupings seemed over-token, and some completely arbitrary or too general.
It's like trying to explain to someone what kind of artist you are. You can say what tools you use, but when it comes to style, every song, every drawing is different.
