Actually, I won't mind answering the question, Nintendogames. I order games from eBay sometimes once or twice a month. Some months I might not order a game from eBay. I frequently browse eBay, though, to check to see how much the games cost or how much time there is left for the game to be purchased.
Far, far to often for my own good to be honest. I do sell some stuff, but tend to buy a lot more than I sell. Its not all games either. Its all kind of things, I really need to give it a rest for the sake of my bank account!
I have not baught anything in a long time, although I do search up things and endup shmoozing all over the rare, expensive or beautiful things that I can't afford.
Often are: The english version of the Sailor Moon manga, a beautiful japanese music box that I found when researching my mom's music box which came from the same company, but not as beautiful, Jump Ultimate/Super Stars DS game and Yu-Gi-OH Cards that can be pricey.
I haven't in a while, I used to get something off of ebay about 5 times a year, now maybe once a year.

Too much. I need to stop making so many impulse purchases. Like this novel called Xenosaga I&II DS. Lately, I've moved on to the B-grade SNES games (just missing a few expensive A games).
There are thousands of sellers on eBay, you really can't dismiss the site in general because one seller ripped you off. And frankly, it probably said in the listing that it was a box only, your friend probably just didn't read.
As for the question, I have bought games on Ebay quite a few times. Right now I'm even selling some things on there, trying to make a little profit
I know someone who sold the box to a game console on ebay for quite a bit of money. It clearly stated box only, he didn't believe that any one would actually fall for it.

This. I'm a bargain hunter. Recently got FFXIII (PS3) for $38, Assassin's Creed II (PS3) for $21 and Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey for $20, all including shipping costs.

There was a time when I used eBay far too much for my own good... I mostly use it for old videogame stuff, I rarely buy anything new from there, as usually it is actually cheaper if you look around on "retail" online stores, like Play.
