I have been noticing a trend lately while I browser for potential Wii games to add to my collection. It seems there are a tremendous amount of "kids" games on the list. By a tremendous amount, I was browsing GameStop.com in the Action genre. Of nearly 350 games in this genres, only a handful would be what I would consider "adult" games, I would say around 50 or so. I had seen so many of the "Image" series that I couldn't believe my eyes. Every Pixar movie has at least 1 game for the movie and possibly a sequel. I had seen many "Zoo" and "Safari" type exploration games. And with the only games that hit my radar which is MH3, SMG2 and the new Zelda game, okay, possibly the new Metroid game, it is hard to wade through the endless sea of kid's game. Before the onslaught, I know there are mature games, Manhunt2, MadWorld, House the Dead Overkill and whatnot, but moreso, not that I want blood and guts to make it an adult game. I want content that makes you think more and is geared towards adults. But it's hard to say that the Wii is nothing more than a casual/kids console. I have faithfully defended from the day I bought it along with defending the DS from before I bought it, and I bought the DS a month after it was released...Does anyone else feel that way?

There no Denying the Truth,
The Wii and DS has a poor line up of Games, and it mostly Because of today Kids who have poor Jugement on Games.

When I was a Kid,The only Game I well get will be a Mario,Zelda, or Pokemon Game.
But now a days, Kid only get Games that they see on TV.And most of those Game are never ment to be Good, just to help the Show it was Base on to make more money.

When I was a Kid, I did't like none of those Commercials Games. that was base off Show, "there not Fun", but kids today don't know a Game game if ti hit them on the Head.
I should know since I have a 12 years old cousin who thinks Mario and Zelda Games are to Hard play, and there Lame because they don't use Guns to fight.

So Kids think that a Good Game Has to have something they saw on TV or it got to have Guns, Blood, and a Bad Story line.

and Games like Mario and Zelda, are Hard and Boring Games that has a Fat guy jumping, and A Green Guy with a Sword who can't Talk.

If those are Bad Games, then I don't want to be Right.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

Wow. Now there's a subjective statement if ever I did see one.

If a person (not even talking about just kids here), likes game "xxxx" that you think is crap, that doesn't mean poor judgement. That means they have different tastes. A really big fan of a movie is likely to enjoy the game based on that movie, whatever you think of the game. I enjoyed Prince Caspian on the DS, for instance. I, however, don't much enjoy platformers or the Zelda formula. I can't get into those games. I'm also at an age where I do realise what a GAME is - especially if it hits me on the head - but I also know what I do and don't find entertaining.

And if someone finds a game too difficult to be enjoyable, that doesn't make them wrong. My partner hates Mario and Zelda games for that reason, but she enjoys games. She even likes some other games that are also considered difficult, like the Fire Emblem series. She doesn't have a good taste in games? Who are you to say that?

And finally, next time you want to present an opinion as though it's definitive, you should probably fix your grammar and spelling. You're killing your own legitimacy there.

On-topic: I don't think anything has "gone to the dogs," as you so eloquently claim. You say there's "only" 50 of 350 games that are "mature." Great. If you can honestly claim that 50 games isn't enough to entertain you, then you need to go out and get a life (I also wonder how you manage to have enough money to buy all these games).

Well, you have to consider that 80% are probably shovelware.

Just let it happen.

Honestly, if you need more than one new game every 2 weeks, you're just not trying hard enough to live away from your TV.

And, if you do need more than one new game every two weeks, you should probably consider owning more than just a Wii, since chances are that the games that will appeal to you (like, say, "mature" games) will be in greater abundance on those consoles.

Software-wise I think the DS is just a much better system.

It's not like licensed games are a new phenomenon anyway. How many Disney based games were made in the 8/16 bit era? Games based on TV shows, they had those too (I personally owned 2 Looney Tunes games and a Garfield game for Genesis). We're seeing the same amount of licensed games, and we've gotten 3 Mario games and there's a second Zelda on the way - just like on NES.

Nothing has changed; the younger generation hasn't "gone to the dogs..." just like you never actually had to walk five miles in the snow to school uphill both ways.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I think this is also caused by the reviews that most people are seeing. For example, an ABC (australia) show called good game frequently reviewing game that have guns, violence or mages. Sure, its whats coming out, but very rarely does it review a quality wii game. They have now made a new "kids" version of the show, which only 1 of the reviewed games wasnr released on a nintendo console.

Point being, people, even kids, will judge a game on what they are exposed to, which is starting to become an issue in Australia with no R+18 rating for video games.

@Magi
The Trapper Keeper was one of the greatest inventions in the history of mankind. To describe it as merely a loose leaf binder besmirches its awesomeness! =)
