I know a lot of you here work or have worked at GameStop at some point, so I figured this is a good place to ask. I am filling out an application for another job right now, and I can't remember the name of my position at GameStop. I was in charge of unpacking and inventory with new stock coming in, but it was some special name, like Super-Duper Inventory Specialist or something fancy. Does anyone know what GameStop actually calls that position?

Aww man, you should've gotten a job working out in the front, LameStop could use some people that actually know a thing or two about video games.

I'm not helping am I

Are you trying to be funny? If you're serious, then I don't really get what you're trying to say.

a lot (being the key words) of people on this site have worked at lamestop before, no one said anything about businesses and staples (bad comparison if I ever heard one) and "every single person" or whatever. Not the same thing at all :3

Implying that gamers have worked at GameStop before is pretty ridiculous. By the business thing well, it was the first thing that came to mind. Owning a business usually indicates they have an office. Staples sells office supplies. Are you dense?

Further more, no I don't know what they call it. Maybe a cashier?

Stock Monkey.

...in my pants.

GameStop doesn't pay nearly enough for me to want to stay there. I just got it as a second job to my normal serving job at Cracker Barrel. I can make $10-15 an hour at Cracker Barrel as opposed to minimum wage ($7.55) at GS.

i know at Kohl's that position is called a 'freight associate', and some places call it an 'unloader', but idk about GS tbh

@zez: 'a lot'? try 'hardly any'. that was the point Viewtiful_Joe was attempting to make, lol — just because you like or do something doesn't mean you've worked in that industry before. :3

all that said, Gamesake wins the thread haha~

Really? "Implying that gamers have worked at GameStop before is ridiculous?" Who works at GameStop, if not gamers? I never said "I know every single person on this site has at one point worked at GS, because you're gamers, and that's where gamers work"
I know for a fact that many people here work at GameStop, and even more who used to work there. This is not a broad generalization (and even if it were, it's not unbelievable that, on a gaming site, a lot of people have at one time held a position at a gaming store.)

If you didn't get the point I was trying to make in my original post, then that's your lost. I'm not arguing with you on how wrong your assumption is.

I know I have worked at several places doing what you said you were doing at Gamestop. I have heard the position called the following not sure if GS use any of the terms.

Filling Crew
Freight Associate
Stocker
Receiving
Merchandise Handler

Obviously my assumption is not wrong if I actually know of many people here who have openly stated that they've worked at GameStop, but whatever. I didn't say it was a huge percentage of NL users, I just said "I know a lot of you...". I was only referring to those I actually know of, not that I was assuming gamers all work at gaming stores. (even though I'm sure there are more than I'm aware on here who do work there)

That said, I think it may have been something along the lines of "receiving," but I could be entirely wrong.

I know your frustrations, Gamestop always has to call their positions something fancy for some reason, not that I've worked there, only applied there a gazillion times for different positions. Unfortunately, I don't remember what they called the Inventory position, if they even had one, they might just have the Game Advisors do that I don't know. I suggest just calling a store up and ask.

@grenworthshero: Considering less than half of our users live in countries in which GameStop/EB has retail stores, there's no way 'a lot' of our users have ever worked in a GameStop, let alone may have ever stepped foot into one. Yes, you're making broad generalizations.

Oh, that's a good idea...why didn't I think of that?
Oh, right, because I hate talking on the phone; that's why it never occurred to me before.
I may just have to do that, though...

@tbd
"a lot" does not imply any sort of percentage of users--just that a large handful of people have worked there, and I know this for a fact.
Eh, whatever. Think what you will about my ignorance.

so who are you talking to when you say 'you'? only those people? because 'you' encompasses quite a few more people than just the 'large handful' to which you're now referring. :/

If you want to figure out the technical name for your position you held at Gamestop, why not check employment information on their website or call a store (probably not the one you worked at) and pretend to be looking for a job there and try to get that info from whomever answers?

Exactly.
