What is this trend you speak of? Aside from Mega Man 9, there's no other 8-bit game in recent times that I can think of, excluding freeware PC games (which cover all sorts of bittage, really).
I know there's this Bit Boy game, but it covers multiple generations, not 8-bit specifically. What 8-bit game am I missing out on? I want to play it.
I'd rather it be 16-bit again, but I'll take 8. But I don't want to see every game going 8-bit retro.
I Agree. 8 bit is ok but its very limited. Whereas 16 bit gives developers much more scope for some beautiful graphics and gameplay..I much prefer 2d games I'd love a new 16bit zelda.
All the retro re-releases and stuff. Like all those annoying plug-n-plays from 2004.
Edit- And, yes I like the trend. More Retro=Happy Starfish Edit- Edit- Sorry, he's not a starfish. Ask TOSE and all they'll tell you is neither And I wanna know!
I dont mind at all. It's a good gift for the nostalgic ones if the game is good.
Why not a Super Mario Bros 4(I now is Super Mario World ouside Japan, i mean a Super Mario Bros like Super Mario Bros 3, but new)? A 16-bit Legend of Zelda? Sonic the Hedgehog 4? That would be really awesome.
@Adam - I saw someone say that they wanted a new 8bit Mario game. By the way there is Pole's big adventure and a DS game with a Retro theme (Though these aren't retro "remakes".)
Edit- Personally I don't need to have an new 8 bit Mario or metroid or or Zelda, Etc... 16 bit would be alright, though.
I like retro games a lot. I really enjoyed Mega Man 9, and I think there are some franchises that could benefit from going back to their roots (here's looking at you, Sonic).

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
@longtimegamer It seems that Pole's Big Adventure will never come out of Japan. If you look the database of Coming Soon games, you will find that PBA is not there any more. And the DS retro Game is Retro Game Challenge, the official game of the japanese TVprogram Game Center CX, renamed for USA. Unluckily, it wont come tu Europe
@Pheonix Sage- Though going back to their roots can just be gameplay-wise. Of course, just because they made Megaman 8-bit, doesn't mean I wont play it (Some day). I have to get around to getting that game.

Exactly...Ive been playing thru the original Sonic lately and its freakin awesome. I would love to see a new Sonic, Mario, Donkey Kong Country, Zelda, Kid Icarus, heck I would even take a new R-Type or Gradius. Oh and I forgot .....I want an updated Blaster Master.

@longtimegamer: That's true, and I wouldn't mind seeing like a 2.5D Sonic (or whatever) game, but there's something nostalgic that comes with making the games look as close to the originals as possible. It allows you to connect a little bit better, I think, because it reminds you of all those days you played the originals as a child.

Has anyone else played The Legendary Starfy and noticed the awesome 2.5D bacgrounds. They are phenominal and really add to the game. Its so old school but the depth of the graphics really make a huge difference.
