You can get 20 BP every time you beat a Frontier Brain, even if you've already beaten them before. And I think you can nab 8BP for just going seven battles with a friend at the Battle Tower.
The only way to increase the odds that I know of is to trade a crapload of Pokemon so you have a diverse number of Trainer ID's. That or cheating. You might also want to see if you can reset it. I have no idea if it works, but it might. But yeah, the lottery is a pain. I've only won the Master Ball once.
I have both Diamond and Platinum.

You meet the brains by winning a set number of victories. At the end of the run, you'll face the Brain for a nice commerative print, a cool 20BP, and some bragging rights. Its 21 for the first battle and 49 for the second for all facilities besides the Battle Hall. You'll need 50 and 170 at that one, since the battles are one-on-one.
Yeah, you could mess with the clock. I have no idea if it would work, but it's worth a try.
