I think some source (I believe the EEDAR, if I spelled that correctly) said they expect Nintendo to announce to DS's sucessor by Spetember this year. Anyway, the DS is nearly 5 and a half years old, I'd be surprised if Nintendo isn't making a DS sucessor by now.
Birdman13's right - EEDAR predicted a DS successor (not an upgrade) in the next eight months. Of course that's just rumor, but like Birdman13 said, the DS is getting up there in years.
I'm ready for the "DS2" whenever it comes. I do believe I am quite done with any further versions of the DS(i).

Rezon - I have to agree with you. I'm sorry, but unless you've been living in a cave for the past decade or are younger than the DS itself, (and perhaps even if you're not) there is really no reason for you NOT to know what a DS is and whether you want one or not.
1. An analog stick attachment 2. Re-releases of the 3D games to use said analog sticks 3. Game Boy through Game Boy Advance compatibility 4. Make it wider 5. More N64 remakes (Ocarina of Time, maybe?)
@ReZon: The XL is simply a larger model of the DSi. It's not necessarily a new DS
Regardless, some who bought the DSi wouldn't have jumped right on it if they had known a new model was coming that quickly. I definitely would have waited. It raises the same question you asked though - why would Nintendo release another system so quickly?
The answer is $$$, and I would not expect the XL to slow down the release of the DS2 very much.

They should at least re-release the following with analog stick compatibility:
Phantom Hourglass Spirit Tracks Super Mario 64 DS Mario Kart DS Star Fox Command Diddy Kong Racing DS
I'm sure Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing will suffer the same flaws as the other racing games (e.g. cramped wrists). 3D games were designed for analog sticks.

I would like a system that is more like the Gameboy Advance SP with better graphics than another DS. I like the touch controls, but I also like the traditional way of playing as well. I wasn't trying to offend anyone, but to me, the Gameboy and the DS are completely different. Playing Gameboy Advance games on a DS isn't as good as playing them on a SP, in my opinion.
