Ages and Seasons are pretty good. Links Awaking I wouldn't bother with if you have played a Link to the Past already. (All the puzzles are the same nearly).
I would get Ages and Seasons now and then just add a bit more for a Link between worlds. (I get the impression a Link between worlds is going to be too easy).

Might as well get at least one of those while you wait. I recommend Seasons the most, but they're all pretty good and pretty flawed in their own ways.
Gamestop is holding a promotion that grants a copy of Oracle of Seasons if you pre-order A Link between Worlds. At, least, the one in my area is. I'm not sure about yours. If the one in your area is doing it, then it may be worth it to wait for A Link between worlds as that would also grant you Oracle of Seasons (again, should you decide to pre-order).
That being said, if you insist on downloading it from the eshop, then disregard this post.

In Australia we don't have Gamestop. We have EB Games. I don't think they have that option but I'll have a look. Thanks!

Well you don't get the full story with just one game but they're still playable. However having both makes it exponentially better I think.

Only played PH, and I would say mostly no, mainly because of the use of the touch screen, but also the equipment and how they are used makes a bit of difference as well.
I have a question about Seasons/Ages. How do you play the two games? Which one do you play first? Do you play them simultaneously?
You can play either game first, then when you have finished it you get a code which you put into the second game and play through that and the VERY final dungeon. There are also side quests which are done between the games which yield even stronger equipment
Both are separate adventures, when you beat one it gives you a code you can use when starting a new game in the other and you can play a modified version of the story, continuing from the game you played before.

(Trying to explain without spoilers, is difficult) Yes both have different bosses. But if you use the code at the end of a game to continue on the second game, you get another boss and upon killing it will completely wrap up the story.
Or perhaps an easier way to explain it:
Playing oracle games separately:
(Ages) Beat Final Boss A. End of game.
(Seasons) Beat Final Boss B. End of game.
Playing games consecutively:
Beat Final Boss A(or B), use code on other game, Beat final Boss B (or A), game unlocks Final boss c, Beat Final Boss C. End of Game
