It would be cool if Nintendo did this again, except for Wii U and 3DS. There are lots of classic games unavailable on the Wii U and 3DS that I really want to play. Perhaps this year, 8-bit Summer can be renamed Retro Summer because I want Nintendo to bring GBA and N64 games to Wii U this summer, and keep re-releasing NES, GB, and GBC games on 3DS.
Games I want to see on Wii U this summer: Super Mario 64, Super Mario Bros. 3, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Earthbound, Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros., Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Advance Wars, Drill Dozer, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, Super Mario Advance 3, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, F-Zero X, Paper Mario, Star Fox 64, and Super Mario Kart. Games I want to see on 3DS this summer: Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Kirby's Dream Land 2, Pokémon Gold and Silver, Mario Tennis, Kirby Tilt n Tumble, Shantae, Wario Land 3, Sonic Blast, Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic 1 GG, Sonic 2 GG, Sonic Drift 2, Tails Adventure, Pokémon Red and Blue, Mega Man V, and Pokémon Pinball.
What do you guys think? Would you guys like another "8-bit Summer", or a "Retro Summer"? I do. I feel like it should be annual for Nintendo to do something like this. (Unless Nintendo runs out of games to re-release, that is!) Please post your thoughts on a Retro Summer for this year below.

I am not sure but maybe because they are doing the whole Famicom 30 cent anniversary thing on Wii U we wont see a return of the 8 bit summer but who knows. It would be nice though

I highly doubt that Nintendo will release GBA games for Wii U - if anything they would release them for 3DS, but even that is unlikely because the GBA ambassador games were promised to be "exclusive" to ambassadors, so that cuts off 10 high profile GBA games from ever being released.

They very clearly state on the Wii U virtual console pagw that they will release GBA games in the future. How did you miss this?

I hope there is retro summer, i don't have a wii u so i don't really care what games get added to wii u virtual console, but i think pokemon gold & silver and sega saturn games should be added to 3ds virtual console.Then i could finally play sonic R
Whoops, I guess I missed the GBA announcement... I had to skip some parts of the Nintendo Direct because I had twenty minutes to kill before work and the direct was longer than that, so I suppose I missed the part about GBA games as I sped through it.
