Topic: What new features would you want for the 3DS's online capabilities?

For starters, I hope they remove Friend Codes, but knowing Nintendo, they probably won't.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

They don't have to remove friend codes, if they had a universal code, then it would be much better.

Im hoping for a online system similar to Xbox Lives, cause Microsoft has been able to (imo) make the best online service out of the 3 different consoles (except for the fact you have to pay to play).

Yeah, Nintendo should make an online system similar to Microsoft's. And if it's impossible, then they could at least try it similar to PSN, because that's pretty good too.
But, what do you mean by universal code?

Say your 3DS' system code is XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.

Games would be registered to that code, so all anybody would have to do is add you 3DS, and then they can play without the need of all those friend codes.

I want a Unviersal Code too. And the ability to message your friends and integrate your Email, IM Services (i.e. AIM) and Social Networks (i.e. Facebook) into your 3DS so that when you connect to the internet you can hit the Home button to IM someone, read an email, or check your news feed while you are in the middle of the game! Also, the ability to read emails offline would be nice too.

And video chat. 'Nuff said.

I'm pretty okay.

What a great idea. I would like the 3DS to have a webcam, you could talk to your friends and see them all the time on the 3DS webcam and it would be on the go cam wow that would be AWESOME! The reason I wish and hope they will create a webcam on the 3DS, is all my friends live in different states and different cities and towns.

What do you guys think?

Or how about go with the flow and add gamertags? It's much easier.

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

While gamertags would definetely be easier, I'd be fine if there was just a universal code, even if it is just a long series of numbers. It's pointless that friend codes have to be traded for every wifi game out there.

What about video recording on the 3DS? I think that would be fun. Even make a short movie with your friends. It might take up a lot of space on the 3DS or it may not, but HEY were talking about Nintendo the company can do anything, I guess if they did put video recording on the 3DS you would be able to transfer the video to your laptop. Hmm... I wonder about Macs would they be able to recive videos from the 3DS?

I would love to see a YouTube app on the 3DS

A faster Internet browser, a better system for inputting friends than Friend Codes while still being safe, voice chat and video chat, and 3DS Messages (similar to Wii messages).

I'm back (for the moment)!

I would also like a chat room kind of like NL's it would be fun to have the NL crew talking on 3ds

That did happen to me. I switched the entire house's internet security system myself- it was a pain to manually enter all the mac addresses to every computer and wireless device my family owned, but it paid off.

I would like it if the 3DS could connect to wifi through wpa secured routers as well as wep secured. It's a little ridiculous that the ds does not support wpa security since most routers nowadays don't even have an option for wep security anymore....
