Topic: "Short" 3DS Games

Hey there,

I am currently trying to catch up a little on my backlog. Hoping this gives me the feeling of progressing well, I would like to finish a couple of shorter games first or at least know better what I'm up to with some games.
Problem is that I own a lot of RPGs, that all last pretty long. Basically I think I own nearly every decent game there is for 3DS, and a couple of DS games too. So I am not gonna list them all.
Are there games for 3DS that were particularly short or long?
There are some games that I am halfway through, but than stopped playing because they were taking so long (e.g. Bravely Default, though the cheesy story was another reason I stopped; Paper Jam Bros, though I had a lot of fun until then, the Zeldas, Persona Q, ...)

Thank you really much for your help. =]
Right now I'm playing Steamworld Heist, which has a good lenght in my opinion (about 18 hours, according to the webpage) and I'm nearly done.

Never want to come down, never want to put my feet back down on the ground.

Steamworld Dig is pretty short, Retro City Rampage as well. I'd also recommend getting Attack of The Friday Monsters and both Gunman Clive games.

I mainly am referring to retail games. It's true that most e-Shop-games are comparatively short, but that is another cup of tea.
Thank you anyway. Steamworld Dig and Retro City Rampage are still on my to-do-list for sure. I'm not that much into platformers, so Gunman Clive isn't my cup of tea. Played and loved Attack of the Friday Monsters.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy?

You can probably run through it in 4-5 hours. Great game though, and you can get more out of it if you want (there's a couple of branching paths, and even though they don't change the story, you won't play every mission unless you play it twice to take each path. Plus, there's a few special bonus missions as well, outside the main story).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Hm, yes, but as previously mentioned, I am rather wondering which retail games can be finished rather fast. I know that there are many e-Shop games that are pretty short, but I mainly want to start clearing my retail-backlog.
Regarding to this for me a "short" retail game is one that can be completed in let's say less than 25 hours.
I know that Platformers are mostly short, but unfortunately I'm not really into them. Another game that comes to mind is Star Fox. I think Sticker Star was comparatively short too, but I already finished that one. =]

what about a platformer? I almost finished chibi robo: zip lash and it took me only several hours. most platformes I played didnt last long, at least if I dont aim to 100% it and get all the additinal stuff.

Some of these games came out a long time ago, so you've might have already beaten them, but here is what I recommend:

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is pretty short. Unless you go after all the collectibles, catch all the boos, etc, it should take you less than 20 hours easy. The main story isn't long at all.

Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure is a rhythm game (obviously) , but has a main story that isn't very long. Trying to get perfect's in all songs takes longer, of course, but the main story is quite fun.

Super Mario 3D Land is also quite short, but super fun!

And then there's always racing or sports games, like Mario Golf: World Tour, Mario Kart 7, and Sonic Transformed, that don't have a main story, but do have missions or Grand Prix's to complete. Those don't usually take long, either.

Do you mean the entire game is short or just the main story?
Fantasy Life's main story is not superlong

@Tobias95: Main story is usually all I play. Finished Fantasy Life's main story, only did two jobs and mastered only one of them. I am not a completionist. I stick around with side quests and post-game-content if I really like the game, but I never 100%ed a game.

Luigis Mansion is a good recommendation! Started this as a reward for finishing university, but somehow didn't continue though I loved it. Will get back to that one for sure.
The Layton games were a good recommendation as well. I only finished the Curious Village and started the one with the mask. But as well as the Phoenix Wright games I only play them when I'm in a certain relaxed mood. I'm not always into reading and thinking when I play games. ;-]

What about Hakuoki Memories of the shinsengumi?
You would have to wait for that mood as its 100% reading, but it is a realy good story

Kirby Triple Deluxe or Mario 3D Land were really the fastest games, and kind of the only ones that were really fast for me. Unless you play something like Mario Party Island Tour or Pilotwings where replay is sort of endless but it's fast to unlock everything and to have seen it all.
Both the former games I listed took less than a day if I just sat there and powered though. But I dragged them out for about a week each. 12-16hrs per game, if that.
Pilotwings might only take an hour or two to unlock all the things as well.
Cooking Mama 5 also comes to mind as something I played, enjoyed, and only took like 18 hours to get all the recipes, get all gold and play all the pointless side games.
