Hey guys,

tempted to buy the monster hunter edition new 3ds but I need to sell my old one first which has loads of installed games, just wondering if it's possible to transfer them to the new 3ds, and hopefully the saves too?

You need both systems to transfer.

You can transfer everything with the transfer tool, and your saves will be on the SD card which you'll put in the new one after transfer is complete. Also, GS might let you transfer there in store if you ask. After all, if it means you making a purchase they might be inclined. Don't think you need internet, pretty sure it can do it over local wireless signal.

I heard that it does require wifi, since it does involve Nintendo Network IDs and eShop stuff and all that.
Anyways I think my GS said they would allow me to transfer my stuff and bring in my system the next day to save money from the New's price. I really hope they mean it...lol.

If the employees at your local store are nice enough, they probably would let you no problem. I can speak for that because I was able to get a similar thing to happen to me once.

@JaxonH You'll need internet to process the transfer initially(I think the transfer itself just uses local the vast majority of the rest of the time though).

Anyone know if the E-Shop will be on the NEW 3DS right at the start, or are we going to be waiting for it for months, like when the original 3DS came out???

Everything is already there. All the functions work right from the get-go.

I've never had to do a system transfer before, but when I get my New 3DS XL I'll have to. I have some questions for when the time comes:

1. How simple is the process? Obviously I should look it up on Nintendo's site so I don't do anything wrong, but should I know anything in advance?

2. Will I need to do anything with the New 3DS before the transfer? Other than charging it and turning it on, of course. On new systems you're asked to fill out some information like name, birthday, 3D settings, and such, so should I just fill these out quick since they won't be used after the transfer? Or can I somehow skip these?

3. How much will actually be transferred over? My streetpasses? Settings? Will I need to re-download anything? Etc.

4. Should I bother upgrading the MicroSD that comes with it? I ask because I don't want to go through the process of transferring data from one card to another, especially since it's harder to get to the card on the New 3DS. I have 13,000 blocks left on my current system's SD card, which is the one it came with. I have one retail game downloaded and the rest is mostly Virtual Console games and a few demos. I'm not planning on downloading more retail games in the future, so I don't know if a bit more space is justified.

If anyone can answer any of this I'd appreciate it. If this would be better suited to a different thread I'd also love to know, and I hope it doesn't get buried under other comments.
