Topic: Original 3DS Battery Problem

Hey guys, just asking for a bit of advice.

I have an original 3DS, bought on launch day here in the UK. The past few days the battery life on my system has reduced to roughly 15 minutes on full charge. I literally watch the battery icon go from full power to half charge, and within seconds the light changes to red and then flashing red.

Now obviously I understand that my battery will have suffered some degradation from being recharged over the years, but I find it hard t believe that it could drop from lasting a few hours to 15 minutes within the space of a day. Or am I wrong, and this is very possible?

I've been looking to upgrade to a New 3DS for a while, so I'm a little reluctant to spend the money to send my 3DS to Nintendo to see what they can do with it, so I may just suffer playing for short bursts until I buy one, but I was just interested to see if anyone had any similar problems or had any ideas to share.

Thanks!

Well the 3DS battery wasn't great and it probably could of gotten worn if you had it that long ago, you could always buy a mugen battey which gives twice or a bit more power then the normal battery for $20 or less on ebay.

You won't need to send it to Nintendo you just need to ask them for a replacement battery & they will send it to you. Think that battery costs about £15. My old DS needed a new battery as it only lasted about an hour but got the DSi instead of getting a new battery.

It's very possible for a battery to die like that, but there's no reason to send it to Nintendo. Just buy a replacement battery. They are easy to change out. Warranty is expired, so you may as well buy one that extends your 3DS's battery life. I got a Neko with my launch 3DS which more than doubled the battery life. Still holds a charge well to this day.
