Hmm... not so sure about that second ad. He'd have to be pretty terrible at customer service to steer someone who just needs an internet-enabled device to the 3DS. Likewise with needing to stream Netflix.
The 3DS is great for fun and games, but the internet, Netflix, cameras, etc are all only of interest due to how they're incorporated into the gaming or "toy" purpose of the product. If you just want to browse the web easily over WiFi or watch Netflix, get a dang iPod touch.

but apparently all they want is netflix, surf the web, gaming (which ipod touch isn't as good at), and having fun with friends, the 3ds does that. he was saying if thats all they want get an ipod touch, which doesnt make sense because the 3ds is cheaper and can do everything they want.

The 3DS can do everything you want... as long as you're in a Wi-Fi enabled area. Otherwise, all it can do is play games, local multiplayer, StreetPass, watch videos on Nintendo Video, 3D graphics anywhere, music, (crud) camera, make a Mii of your friend, watch E3 trailers, AR games... along with messaging, video and DLC coming soon too...

Its a good thing I bought my 3DS with gaming in mind. most other's I would recommend a Ipod or a Tablet.

True, but just $30 more. For someone who just seems kind of clueless about tech and wants a device to surf the web or watch Netflix--with no mention of gaming--I'd tell them to spend those extra $30 to get the device better suited to those purposes.
Don't get me wrong, if they mentioned wanting to enjoy games on the go, I'd certainly recommend the 3DS and explain to them how it offers a different kind of gaming from other portable devices. But I think it only excels as a toy and a fun little gaming machine; getting it just for the web or Netflix seems crazy.

Well if you get a console for this then that's just stupid anyway. They're more like add-ons to enhance the console, they're not really there as the sole purpose of hte console. You can do a lot with a 3DS, but there are some things that you just can't do, such as the things shingi mentioned. But I wouldn't really find any of that necessary on a games console...
@shingi_70 ok it was just a discussion dude. everybody knows the ipod touch/ipad/iphone can do more, dont need to be a total smart alec. and thank you @warioswoods for ending on a good note, i wasn't meaning to start anything and i actually agreed with you above. i just thought it was a little funny that it costs more and u used it as an example thats all. and finially @xDemon720x there is plenty the 3ds can't do, and its pretty obvious. gaming wise it rocks and i think thats what you were going for. but that is its main purpose.

The 3DS does quite a lot and there isn't anything else you really need it to do anyway, the internet browser, Netflix and Nintendo Video just enhance the 3DS and gives it more to do other than just gaming. But the 3DS was never meant to be a social media giant in the first place, if you want social media, netflix, internet etc. you're better off getting an iDevice...
Personally I prefer the internet browser on the 3DS to the one on the iphone simply for ease of navigation. It's touch screen is much more accurate and suited for mouse-like controls. I do wish it could play movies and open larger websites though. I can't even check my email! Whenever I browse with my ipod touch it clicks when I try to zoom and zooms when I try to click. Plus, it costs tons per month...
Those commercials were..umm...something all right. The first one was a little boring compared to the similar Street Fighter 3D commercial and the second one was a little corny. Personally I want the Wii-mobile to come back. You remember that thing right?

@TrueWiiMaster - i got hotmail to work on mine just fine. The first one is like a great dream for all of the streetpassing you could do, but I think it's the better commercial for showing off the system as a game system and those capabilities. The second one better tells us the other features though and comes off more comedic and does feel as strong because you only see what he sent them too at the end of it.
