Topic: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Discussion

Well it has been quite some time since I played the game, but I guess I can help out.

I've still been playing this every so often. I think I'm now only 1 key quest away from Gogmazios. I'm usually up for helping if I'm not busy or asleep.

Edit: And I reached Gog today. I survived for over 40 minutes, but then lost once it started dripping explosive goo everywhere. I didn't find the Demolisher at all, so I should be able to do a lot better next time I try. Maybe I'll take a look at a guide later to see what the best way of dealing with it is.

I finally beat Gogmazios. It was a close call, Mission Impossible close call. It went right down to the wire, and the time was recorded as 49'59'60.

Less than 1 second seperating me from success and failure. I still can't believe how close that was.

@crimsontadpoles Wow. That was extremely close. I don't even bother with Gog solo since he is such a damage sponge <__<.

Kudos for sticking to your guns and not quitting before. I would have left the quest if I didn't get it to half HP by the 20th minute at most.

So did you manage to use the demolisher this time round?

@LasermasterA Yeah, I got a hit on him with the demolisher. I think it was around 30 minutes before it changed to the second phase.

Think it was the same for me when I first took it down.

I want to hunt Gogmazios and Zamtrios (and almost nothing else), but I'm really rusty at MH right now. If you could use a somewhat trustworthy online mate for farming Gog, @ me.

Eventually I need to go online so someone could help me with that Frenzied Zinogre + Stygian in the arena quest. Despite it only being high rank, that quest is a nightmare.

@Joeynator3000 Haha, I just saw you in Gaijinhunter's twitter feed.

Gog becomes somewhat easy to solo once you know what to do exactly. Only tricky part is the Demolisher, since you won't have anyone else to help you distract him.

I think I tried an adrenaline run to get a fast kill on gog but it is hard to avoid every single attack. Need more practice with evasion+2 and avoiding those blasts. He was good source of money.

Ugh, the explosions, I still can't avoid those if I'm caught in them.

You have to have some item that you buy/trade for in Dundorma, eventually it opens up shortly after Gog's phase 2. Send the minicannon (this is where you activate the Demolisher by the way, lol) or whatever that thing is called that way when it's ready. You have to fire it while Gog is on top of the big black spot on the ground (not the smaller ones, that's where the small cannon hits). For me, when he's on top of the spot and facing towards the Dragonator, I mount him and the moment I bring him down I start running towards the cannon. You can use Marathon Runner or something to slow down stamina but I never had this issue. Anyways you should be getting up the ladder by the time he gets up, and once he's turning around the Demolisher should already be firing at him.

That's how I do it when solo'ing him.

I think I often shot the demolisher when he was right on top of it trying to smack us. I don't think it hit.

I can pick this up for $15 used at my local game shop. Is now still a good time to jump into it and play online? I'm only really interested in it for it's online mode.

Well seeing how 3 Ultimate's online is still up and running, you should be good to go. Some of us are still playing the game (I'm cycling through all of them, currently on this one), I'm not too much of an online multiplayer hunter though. I would like to try some of the event quests online though, like that dreaded "Bombs Over Gogmazios" quest. xD

Multiplayer is still active, but quieter than it used to be. It's still easy to find a random group of people to join.

I defeated White Fatalis earlier, which means I've now encountered all the monsters. I'm basically done with this game now, but maybe I'll dabble into it now and then or do some online hunting.

@crimsontadpoles What about Raging Brachydios? lol

@Joeynator3000 I tried out Raging Brachydios' event quest, but haven't defeated it. It might take me a few more attempts to solo it, so I'm not going to bother trying it again by myself.

So, what weapon types are you guys using for Brachydio? I want to start soloing things myself and decide to begin with him.
