Topic: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Discussion

Based on my time with the demo, I like to use Long Sword and Sword and Shield...and the Insect Glaive looks really fun too, even though the Insect part is a bit hard to understand at first...now I just have to waita bit more than a week to get to play the full game!

Gonna do another video again soon, this time being G-Rank Molten Tigrex.
EDIT: Ugh, my phone is acting up again...now it's going to take it 45 minutes just to put the video on the computer, last time I cancelled it and the video vanished. T.T

Same here. My internet is acting up these days, which is one of the reasons I have come back but offline. I can still try online but can't guarantee no d/c. Need to fix it up.

So you didn't reach G3 yet? So you have to yet unlock the quests. Cool, I am willing to help out if I am there. Although with Xeno X coming out in a week, dunno how active I will remain. Making Gunner sets is annoying precisely for that reason if you have been blademaster for so long -_-

Well my video of Molten Tigrex is up...was hoping that honing my weapon would make this under 25 minutes. Ah well, didn't die...took him down anyways, whatever. lol

For Multiplayer I'm mainly dealing with Apex monsters, at some point I'm hoping to do Fatalis with Iggly. I feel like I can deal with Crimson alone, was doing well. (I ended up being close to failing, and running out of time, lol)

Well the Fatalis can be tough but they are fodder for GS snipers since those dragons can't keep their head up where it should be x D

I repelled White Fatalis yesterday with my Magala Glaive. I think I need to take more risks if I actually want to kill it, but the battle was quite easier than I expected. Still epic music though.

Which quest do you use for Zenith Wyvern Gems? I killed the Apex Diablos in event quest tons of times but I have gotten tons of regular Zenith gems but no Zenith Ls which I need -_-

Too bad there is no manual chat during quest. Otherwise you could have added dramatic chatting as well. Although you could probably just substitute that with hunter in distress, quick chat options

I'm sure they all give you Zenniths, where Jho and Rajang give you Large Zenniths. Only Apex monster I can solo at the moment is Gravios, so...yeah.

Just woke up, but after typing that out, yeah you gotta deal with Jho and Rajang. Any other monsters will have a small chance of giving you a Large.

Diablos has a 40% chance and that is what I though i could use. Jho and Rajang have a 90% chance just checked. I killed like 5 Diablos, zero Large gems Rajang is ..... not for me at the moment. Too stressful to collect 3 gems from him. Apex Jho doesn't have a quest does he?

You gotta deal with the Master's Quest, lol. That or a Guild Quest. Both Rajang and Apex Jho I'm not going near while alone. Savage Jho is just irritating for me, and Apex Jho uses his moves, so...yeah. lol

Oh no! Not that again.... I will have to go through an apex, seregios and deviljho. That too two at a time. Thank goodness the middle barrier works in this.

Or I just might.... my chameleos IG I choose you! Although it has a cutting kinsect >.< I find them much less useful than the blunt ones which give me 1-2 knockouts x D

Well I wouldn't exactly recommend it as it tends to give you bad habits.

I used the ultimate blunt kinsect when I had my Nerscylla poison IG rather than Chameleos IG. If the monster is freaking around and I can't approach, I just mark the head and make the kinsect go through it thrice. The third consecutive time as you must have noticed, makes him super charge. Since the ultimate kinsect has Stamina up (L) and Attack up (L) along with Max speed, you can do decent damage doing this 2-3 times before the Kinsect must return.

I love it when it knocks out enemies from the sky with stars around their heads.

The bad part is, I kind of have gotten a bad habit of taking less risks or over relying on the knockout (deliberately staying away from monster wasting my ultimate Kinsect boost, just to spam blunt attacks) thus lower DPS. Although the knockouts do sort of cover this, especially in online quests where all spam attacks!

does anyone know the defining differences between MHU4 and MHcross coming out in Japan today???
Is it an upgrade geared more toward expert play, or is it a simpler version for newbies?
any info would help greatly, im deciding whether to buy MHU4 at reduced price or wait for X.
please inform.

Well Monster Hunter Cross is not exactly like your typical Monster Hunter.

The core game of hunting monsters in singleplayer or multiplayer, or item management, weapon+armour construction will be the same.

What is changing up is that Cross will have a flashier combat system. Like a regular MH, it will have a focused system of combat, but it is adding 3 more styles of combat to each weapon. Plus it will have different locations/maps (some areas from Monster 1, 2 ,3 and an area of its own). It could be said to be a modified Monster Hunter, not necessarily a "main" (numbered) game.

In the regular (guild) style we have the normal calculated style of hunting, the aerial style will focus more on greater maneueverability than normal able to attack more than the air. Bushido style relies on evasion and blocking and the final style has much different combos. Plus they added some "super" attacks which are very flashy and have different effects from super damage to something else. The game will not have some endgame content from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate plus its localization hasn't even been confirmed yet (it probably will though). Cross will have more variety in combat, so can't call it for experts or newbies.

I thoroughly recommend you to grab a copy of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, I think there are a few sales going on as well. The game has tons of content, monsters and enjoyment, being quite a definitive version of Monster Hunter with its deep combat, and crafting system. It also has a better start than the other monster hunter games, and does a nice job at accommodating people new to the franchise. Cross will be a more different sort of experience.

And it will probably take a year or year and a half to reach here, so you will have to wait a lot. I hope that answered your questions.

Don't know about the drop because I only saw it below 30 during this Black Friday. My sister just picked up a copy at $25 so guess I now have a local player as well.

Although I will be grabbing Xenoblade as well so yea, my monster hunting will decrease again for some time.

@LasermasterA: its currently like 22 or 23 dollars here in NA on the eshop until Dec2.
but i think i want the cart and in a few more months i bet Amazon lists it for 20 for physical.
i got nothin but time, so i'll wait out a further $ drop. thanks again for info

Hello! I just picked up the game this last Wednesday on a whim, and I'm loving it so far--the Insect Glaive is everything I've ever wanted in a game weapon (even if I'm still bad with the Kinsect), and the fact that so much of the female armour is not a chainmail bikini is so refreshing and wonderful to me. I just beat the Caravan Shagaru Magala yesterday, and I'm considering making its armour because it was such a fun fight + the armour looks magical + I got the plate, tail (without cutting it), caress, and a bunch of scales and prismwings within 2 fights. Clearly Lady Luck wants me to have it. I'm only a few horns, prismwings, and shells away from having enough for the set, so I figure it couldn't hurt--it might be a good set to wear while I attempt to farm Gore's tail for my Leumundslist upgrade.

I definitely want its glaive, too, that's my long-term goal. Anyway, it's nice to see semi-active discussion around for this game. I've been searching for just that. Nice to meet you all!
