Topic: Is Donkey Kong Land Returns on the 3DS plausable?

With all the praise over DKCR mirrioring the original, I would bet that they would make a reboot of DKL, too. I mean, Rare made a handheld DK game because DKC was so popular. Why wouldn't Retro do the same?

Yeah, that sounds completely logical. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it ended up on the DS, though, especially as the 3DS can play DS games. Consider that there are over 120 million DSs that have been sold around the world, so they know there is already a (rather large) audience with the hardware already, and that Nintendo has stated the DS will live on after the 3DS comes out. Having said that, they may wish to do it on the 3DS because of the motion controls and such technological advantages.

I was just thinking today how awesome a Donkey Kong Country game in 3D would be. I hope they announce one next year sometime...

No, it's not plausible. There's no way the 3DS could handle the heavy technical requirements required by a game like Donkey Kong Land Returns. I think we should give up all hope on such a game right now.

How so? The original DKL was on the gameboy which was DKC designed for the gameboy. Why can't a possible DKLR be designed for the 3DS?

No it's not plausable if donkey kong returned this year then how can he return again next year on 3DS? He's already here from returning so nope

Um. Weren't the DKL games just remakes of the DKC games?

DKC on Game Boy Color was the remake of DKC. Last I checked, Donkey Kong Land was its own game.

I e-mailed Nintendo back in September of this year about the future of Donkey Kong Country and a DK Country game possibility on the Nintendo 3DS and I got a very positive response. The way the response was written it was quite clear that a Donkey Country game is in development for the Nintendo 3DS but I can't say that it is Donkey Kong Land or DK Country as they didn't say which Donkey Kong game it would be.

But yes, like the above posters I agree that Donkey Kong Land is plausible.
