I don't clean it much. where I live is so full of dust that 5 min after cleaning it is already dusty again. I clean only the screens that's what matters, but other than dust I don't let it get dirty in any way.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

My screens have to be smudgeless, if they have smudges I freak out and refuse to play it until the smudges are gone. It's the same for playing on another person's system.

A soft plastic cover on my 3DSXL, both the cover and unit are pink. The only portion not protected are the buttons at the bottom and the circle pad. I have 4 extra screen protectors available at all times as well. Mine will always be in near mint condition as long as I own it. I do wipe off the screen protectors now and then, especially the top one which collects a lot of dust.
Friend list is full, I will be clearing room for Bravely Default soon though. Colors! 3D Gallery, My Blog

I just wiped the whole 3DS using a tissue! The fabric that comes with the crystal case didn't clean them anymore and instead transfer the smudgeness all over
Very waterproof that clear plastic casing around the top of the 3DS is a waterproofer. Iwata came up with the idea because he and Miyamoto like to shower together so they thought it would be a great if they could play Mario Kart 7 together when they take a bath.
