What are your impression about 3D Classics: Kid Icarus?
I'm loving it so far apart from the 4:3 aspect ratio.

The backgrounds work very well in the game when seen on the actual 3DS (Both in 3D and 2D), you are able to tell how far away background objects are so you don't think you can't go there.
While playing in 3D the sprites and backgrounds look sharp and clear, in 2D they are very slightly smooth.

If anyone wants to know the difference between classic and custom controls here it is:

With custom controls you can...

  • You can jump while aiming upwards
  • You can continuously shoot arrows at high speed while holding B
  • The arrows are faster
  • The arrows have a broader range of effect
  • If you press and hold A while jumping, you can slow your fall
  • Your speed while jumping is slowed down
  • Pit's reaction time is shorter.

Source The manual.

While playing with custom controls it makes the first tricky jump (the one with the 3 blocks... you know the one) much easier.
I have also noticed a save feature when you finish a level, I have not idea to what extent this is as I haven't got "Game Over" yet.

Is the 3D good or crap?

The 3D is very good, as with previous 3D classics you can adjust the maximum 3D effect under settings.

Is it Kirby Adventure 3D good or Xevious good?

I don't have either of those, I only have Excitebike and Kid Icarus...
But I would have to say Kirby's adventure as the depth is not as intense as Xevious.

Someone else might be able to shed more light on the matter.

Very nice, you can notice the different layers, usually there a 2 backgrounds layers and 1 just behind you for the background terrain objects.
You can also see light shining into doors.
The jungle background is the best so far though, it has 4 layers which brings to the game without distracting your dying.

I got a lot of good nostalgia from the NES days. Absolutely love it, it's pretty tough and make one mistake and you have to redo the whole level. The 3D effect is pretty cool and the music sticks like a cheap suit.

Current 3DS games: Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 3D Land, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars, Super Street Fighter IV 3D, Ridge Racer 3D.

Current Switch games: Too many to mention.
