I kinda hope they go with a unified handheld/home console. Instead of having a Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Zelda, 2D Mario, and 3D Mario for both a handheld and home console, Nintendo would only have to make one of each of these games a generation allowing them to make more new ips or revive more classic franchises. That's all I really want from a Nintendo console; the opportunity to play the latest Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, F-Zero. While I have enjoyed the Wii U it is missing so many classic Nintendo games: no Animal Crossing, F-Zero, Pokémon, 1080, Wave Race, PilotWings, Wario Land, Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars, Custom Robo, and the list goes on.
So yeah a unified console to allow Nintendo to develop a more varied selection of games would be perfect for me. They could try and compete with power again and try and get third party developers on board, but I believe the main reason that third parties have been avoiding the last few Nintendo Consoles is that we just don't buy their games.
I've been very happy with the DLC so far. Mario Kart has been handled brilliantly and I would love to see more of it. Hopefully if they do more they could include a Metroid or Xenoblade themed track as I think they have the potential to be amazing. The only thing I that is bugging me about the current Mario Kart DLC is all the F-Zero stuff, but that's only because I really want a new F-Zero. As for Smash Bros. I'm all for new characters but I would like to see some more stages added to the game as I feel like it could do with a few more (surely bring back some more N64, Melee, and Brawl stages can't be too difficult?)
Mario Maker is starting to look really good with all these options and styles and now Yoshi is gonna be in it! It'll be interesting to see how Yoshi works (will he get different power ups for eating different coloured Koopas like in Mario World or have is flutter jump like in NSMBU) and it'll also be cool to a SMB or SMB3 style Yoshi.
