Re: Illusion of Gaia

songwriter24

The, oft quoted, "Golden Era" of video games, referred, very much, to those, sadly, very few years, when the greatest of all JRPGs were released on the SNES.

Ending with the brilliant TERRANIGMA, preceded by genuine "classics" such as ILLUSION OF GAIA/TIME, EARTHBOUND, FF6, etc, these were the days when, it seemed, back then, every new release contained that essence of "magic" that came with experiencing never-before-seen sights, sounds, and gameplay twists and turns that ONLY came in that era of "the new"!

Nothing was "dissed" by players — because everything was amazing!
The first insertion of that, reassuringly solid, cartridge, meant, from the opening "set the scene" moments, to the, almost sadly-triumphant, endings, day upon day of wonder and magic!

Everything was still so new back then.
Nothing felt old and stale - because nothing WAS old and stale!

Call me an old nostalgia-freak ( I really don't mind! 😊 ) but I truly long for the day when Nintendo ( I assume they still own the rights to publish these iconic JRPGs? ) announce that they're releasing them all for the SWITCH!!

Yeah, yeah, I know I'm probably " wishing on a star " ....... But, OH how I hope that I'm NOT!! 😊😊

Take it easy all!

Quite simply - It's games like this that make me realise how wonderful nostalgia is!

Half an hour into it and it's brilliant!!

Gold_Ranger — Are you deliberately trying to p-ss a lot of people off, or are you totally brain-dead?!?

As I said, coincidentally, yesterday, in a post concerning FFXV, I will defend anyone's right to express their own, personal, likes and dislikes, but I'm damned if I'll stand by and let some "nobody" suggest that BOTW is " the WORST Zelda yet "!!

You know EXACTLY what you are — and why you post the way you do.

You are NOT some immortal djin, like a Japanese SenNyin, placed on this earth to guide we stupid gamers who don't have the sense to recognise whether a game is good or bad without your endless, ranting, protestations to guide us!!

NO!! What you are, in fact, is a no-account d-ckhead, who's only truth is in revealing what a prat he is!!

** To EVERYONE on this brilliant site, ( except him! ) I unreservedly apologise. I have NEVER posted in ANY kind of aggressive manner, previously, on ANY site — and I'm content that I never will again.
Once again, my genuine apologies to anyone I may have annoyed or offended - except "him"! 😊 **

Re: Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD - An Inferior Clone Of An Already Divisive Game

Each to his own, I guess, and, please, before any of you choose to rant at this post, I, at least, have the greatest of respect for YOUR opinion ( whoever you may be ), and I honestly hold to the most accurate truism ever coined - That it all comes down to " individual taste "!

So — Okay, this is a "flawed" game, as was the much hyped original, ( at least, in the beginning!!). I have a pristine copy of the PS4 version, as, I'm guessing, most of you have. I played it, and played it, BUT, I could never " get it "!!
It's graphics, including some of the fabulous scenery, as well as the character-models, told me this should be a brilliant game.
Only it wasnt! And, eventually, I gave up!
And the thing is, I KNOW, I'll never go back to it.
As I said in another post, in my opinion, it's just a "beautiful picture" posing as a game!

So now, here I am, with the Switch version happily ensconced in my sd card — and to echo what "ALEXSORA89 " ( forgive the upper case Alex ) says, above: I'm having an absolute blast with it!

The reason? Don't ask me, cos it makes no sense at all — or does it?
Maybe this is how it should always have been?

As someone who owns a recording studio, I know, only too well, how a track can become: fussy, too busy, too loose and open, too much compression, too much reverb.... too much EVERYTHING!
Then you get a handle on it. You pare it down, edit out all the excesses, make it TIGHT!

Maybe that's what's happened here - but it'll take us all a while to realise it?
And like I intimated earlier, I'm well aware I'm in a minority!

But I don't care, Im just going to carry on having a ball with it, 'cos, to me, anyway, it really IS, an absolute blast.

Re: Square Enix Announces Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD For Nintendo Switch

@JaxonH - My dear friend, I have NEVER agreed with the sentiments of ANY post on a Nintendo forum so much as I do yours!! For countless weeks I have expected to hear of Switch owners "dancing in the streets" at the endless list of wonderful games either released, or slated for a near-future release!! Of course I was dreaming!! We've seen nothing but whinge, moan, and whine from supposed Switch "fans"!! Well, personally, I believe the original FFXV was nothing more than a very pretty picture purporting to warrant comparison with the Greats of FF history. It didn't!! I tried desperately hard to "get" the PS4 version, but after weeks of effort I confess, I gave up! BUT NOW, I can play it in just the way I want to - and whether I finish it or not is irrelevant!! - because I guarantee I'll LOVE IT!!

Re: Review: Owlboy (Switch eShop)

I don't expect anyone here to agree with me but, £18:99 (eshop) vs £24:99 (physical) leaves me happy enough to pre-order the latter! £6 extra for another addition to my collection, makes it, for me, anyway, more-than worth it.
As far as this 8-bit "debate" goes — what the heck does it matter!?!
If it's a good-looking, good-playing, game, then, as far as I'm concerned, it can look as much like a PS1 game as it likes!!
It's STILL a "good-looking, good playing" game --- period!!
