Pokemon TCG is an ok game, personally, I found games too long (attaching energy to individual pokemon, lots of searching decks and shuffling). The love the card art more than playing it. I believe the large set sizes benefit the secondary market than the players (possibly meaning more money for the company?).
I do feel the comparison to Hearthstone was a tad harsh, considering Pokemon TCG on ios and android is designed to look and feel like someone is playing the TCG, but in a digital form (with the table, draw area, pokemon bench etc). I feel its design and looks are so that someone playing the online game can transition easily to the physical game, and vice versa.
Hearthstone (which, imo, is the better and more fun game) is designed as a digital format only (since there is no official physical format of Hearthstone to play), and considering the mobile versions were released a month after the PC versions, Blizzard had already developed and designed it with mobile in mind.
That being said (with regards to mobile/portable versions), could we see Nintendo redesigning the current Pokemon TCGO onto Switch in a format and design similar to the Gameboy Color version? That I would love to see play out.
I would love to see more research into this. Personal experience, I used to drink alcohol, more so in my youth days but never got addicted or ever felt I couldn't spend a night out without it. Gaming though to me was completely different.
IMO, gaming does feel like a release from when I want to avoid or delay doing something else. Sometimes I know I need to do housework or something similar and my mind does wonder towards playing a quick game (when I say games, we do need to include mobile too, not just 3DS or PlayStations).
I think gaming really hurts me the most on say, Sunday afternoon. I used to spend lots of time gaming at night and over the weekends and I get this massive feeling of guilt come Sunday afternoon knowing I hadn't done much productive.
My gaming habits have gone down a lot now though. From playing 3-4 hours of league every weekday evening (6-7 hours each weekday), I've managed to cut this down to 0 hours of league by uninstalling it (and other factors). I still get the odd sensation to install it and have a quick game (least once a day), but have gone cold turkey on it for over a year.
I hope I'm only say, 0.0001% of the gaming population who feels this way, and I agree with what other people say in saying anything can be addictive and need to be taken in moderation.
All I know now is that, when I have kids, I'm making sure I either don't give them games or moderate the f out of it until they're older.
Again, would like to see more research on this before this becomes the law or something.
I like it how people say "forget new 3DS/2DS, buy a switch" when most of the Nintendo Switches have been bought by scalpers and are on eBay for god knows how much above RRP.
Anyway, if I have the money, really considering upgrading from my aqua blue original 3DS for this new 2DS XL. I have so many games I love and still need to buy and play for my 3/2DS 😁
This is perfect for me who is currently using my original aqua blue 3DS, have nearly 100 games (3DS, GBA and other eshop virtual console games) so I can transfer all my games to a new 2DS console, gives me the option to look into buying games such as Xenoblade Chronicles, Hyrule Warriors and possibly DQ XI if it comes to the US (n.b. DQ XI looks different to the other variations). Fingers crossed for the US version of Etrian Oddysey V?
I agree that some people think selling this along with the switch is a bad idea ("Switch should be Nintendo's handheld focus etc, etc"). In the future, I guess it will be, but I still love having a portable that has dual screens and a fantastic catalogue of games.
Besides, I think the Switch looks fab, but won't be getting it until the 2nd generation of Switch comes out (which might be in 1-2 years time?). Till then, this new 2DS XL looks brilliant for someone like me.
I'll definitely start reading up more about this. I think people need to understand that although the games were never official release in Chinese (whichever dialect) there have been lots of translation of manga, anime etc into the Cantonese dialect and mandarin or other Chinese dialects out there, probably some of it officially sold by the Pokemon company.

Re: Preview: Going Hands On With the New Nintendo 2DS XL
I hope they use the IPS panels (not the TN panels).
Can NintendoLife confirm whether they are IPS or TN panels?
