@melonarius Agreed. Not only is it hard to hear things sometimes, but not all of us are fans of the different themes/tracks in the game. IMHO, most are great, some are awful... The game definitely needs an audio options pane.
@Bludy_Edge I didn't even think about recovery software. Good idea. I just wish the files were of better quality. As @PlywoodStick mentioned, they are of a pretty low quality.
@HeCaster101 You can certainly do what @Nico07 said. Just remember that the drive is only 1GB as it comes, so you won't be able to store very much data on it as-is.
Also, the "audio" file that comes on the drive is actually just a Windows executable file (.exe) that opens a protected file viewer containing the audio files. While there may be a complex way of "extracting" these files, as it stands there is no simple way of moving the individual audio files from the "soundtrack.exe" file, e.g. you can't just "copy-paste" them to your computer or phone. You just have to open it and play songs from your computer. :-/
@ikki5
As is the case in all aspects of life. While your priorities are honorable, the assumed "priority" of the members of a gaming news site is to new games and hardware. A lot of us budget for new gaming things and buy certain hardware out of faith that it will be good (and we are sometimes disappointed), and some of us have the money to splurge form time to time.
All I'm saying is that your argument is very anecdotal. When you asked @Mus1cLov3r "why" the n3DS was worth it, my reply to you was one answer to your question. If your answer to that is simply 'that's not worth it to me', that's fine, but it doesn't mean that it's not worth it to anyone else.
@DarthNocturnal
Probably because of purists. People that could care less about the quality of something as long as it's in it's "originally intended form". Anything else is "garbage".
I always thought the XC English dubs were pretty good compared to some others out there.
@ikki5
Three words: Head Tracking Camera.
This feature alone is worth the $200 investment. Above being more comfortable in general to look at and play, the HT feature also makes the Motion Aiming work so much better as you can see the 3D perfectly even when moving the console around in the air. I was skeptical at best, but pleasantly surprised.
The C-stick is also amazing (for games like MH that actually need it), but nothing compared to the HT 3D.
Mmmmm... warmth in the lower-central region. Seriously can't wait for this one. Next to Zelda U, I can already tell it will be one of my games of the year.
Seriously, though. I've got quite a bit of points I've been saving for that special item they never seem to release in the US, so I'm hoping to come out on top with this one.
Definitely one of my all-time faves, for sure. Probably could have bought it 5 times for the number of blockbuster rentals I made. It's "over-collectablitus" is an aspect that made these '90s platformers so great, in my opinion.
Why would the ROM on the cart be copyrighted for 2003? If it was "connected" to the promo disc release, why not keep it in GCN format. Wouldn't that be easier than transferring it to a cartridge?
Wow. I can understand the appeal of playing "native" games in full HD resolutions. I can also appreciate the ingenuity, sleek design and workability of new hardware. But holy hell, $500!? I don't even know where to start in my list of ways to do the same thing for a fraction of the cost!
I wonder what the classics market will be like. Since I doubt there is much of any Nintendo nostalgia floating around China, I would think it would be difficult to market the older stuff, which seems to be a fairly large selling point for Nintendo everywhere else.
That being said, it sounds like Nintendo's QoL plan might be perfect for this new market.
I normally, like many of you, can't stand DLC holes, but all I can say is at least this game comes with 10 courses off the bat. That's more than plenty for a full game, based on previous releases, which is more than I can say for most DLC-heavy games.
The added characters are really pointless too because, come on, but who here is really going to use anyone but Yoshi or Bowser?
@OMC79 Vintage? If by vintage you mean old, then the Disc System is just as old as the NES (1986). Relative to the history of Nintendo gaming consoles, that's pretty old.
Though my collection is WAY behind his (I mostly collect games I know I will enjoy playing), online has the benefit of availability and the disadvantage of cost, while local has the benefit of thrill and cost, with the disadvantage of coming up empty-handed 90% of the time. It works best to find a circuit to follow as often as you can. There are a couple of streets with thrift stores all along them that I try and hit depending on whether I'm at work or at school for the day. Great thing to quickly do over lunch break.
eBay used to be pretty good about helping sellers out in situations like this, but even if they still were, there's really only so much they can do. The thing is, nobody signs a contract when they "buy" things. Sure, they agree to a statement, but nothing legally binding. It would be like going to the game store and making the employee ring up a big pile of stuff, but when it came time to ring your card, you say never mind and walk out.
The best eBay could do, and should do, is ban the buyer from the site and refund the seller any fees associated with the auction.
@Clayfrd Epic. Only contests I ever get to do are the Smash Bros tourneys at GT Gamefest once a semester. And all you win at those is a high five and a lanyard from whatever energy drink is sponsoring the event. X(
I remember picking up Pikmin for the Gamecube when I was 12. I had seen commercials for it and was instantly intrigued. It was a very exciting game, I loved the gameplay instantly, and the replay value was (and still is) possibly the best out of any game I had ever played. At that time, my GCN library consisted of Melee, Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin. All three were treasures.
Pikmin 3 has done an incredible job at continuing the legacy, and honing the controls masterfully. I have only played Pikmin Wii once, and I can honestly say, the GCN controls were MUCH better. However they fixed that in P3.
After sending the Sankei page through a couple website translators (not vouching for their accuracy at all), the term "bankruptcy margin" comes up a lot. I wonder if this alleged death threat sender was just an angry investor or even a hardcore Nintendo fan that is just incredibly upset at devoting his life to something he sees as faltering. It's an interesting thought.

Re: Guide: Here's How To Make That Xenoblade Chronicles X USB Drive More Useful
@vonseux Normally I would agree as WAV has the potential to be loss-less (being a raw format), but in this case they are very poor quality WAV files.

Re: Majora's Mask Appears Again, This Time as a New Smash Bros. Assist Trophy
I think I would rather have MM on the Wii U... 3DS would be great, but this game screams for an HD remix.
Also, a MM Link that changes to the 3 different main masks then uses the Fierce Deity mask for an Ultimate smash would be sick.
