In terms of value, we are getting more than $80 in free games. Take an NES game on wii VC. 5 bucks each. Mutiply that by 10. Thats $50. And the GBA games. My gamestop sells them all (if they have any in stock, that is) for $15-$20 each. If its true that Pokemon: Emerald made the list, and It goes for $30 still. thank we just got nearly $150 in free games.
There is only ONE game here that dissapoints: Yoshi. It isnt bad. But you cant go more than 10 minutes on end without getting bored. Its kinda like a waiting room game. And I see why they didnt put Kid Icarus. All 10 of these games will appeal to any age group. Take an 8 year old who is an ambassador. He would go insane playing Kid Icarus. It is the hardest NES game. No doubt we'll see Of Myths and Monsters soon. And it was a vast improvement over the NES one.
And sure, you may be all, "Well, Metroid aint a kiddy game" Well it's difficulty cant even compare to Kid Icarus. I beat Kid Icarus ONCE Metroid: 43 times!
I can actually play through brinstar with my eyes closed...
@SMEXIZELDAMAN you mad bro? Microsoft actually copied Sony with Kinect. The PS2 had a camera, but unfortunantly, it had nothing for it. And xbox controllers use the same button scheme as GCn/ classic controller. I may be a Nintendo fanboy, but I can easilt admit that Sony is 100% more inventive than XboX. Jack Tretton (who, as a businessman, i have loads of respect for) said at e3 (in responced to kinect): "It's nothing new, or innovative. You could go pay $150 for this, or you could go pay $60 for the technology WE invented almost 10 years ago"
And look at how awesome kinect is! It has so many classic titles.. like fruit ninja... r u serious?
@49 Well, startting from the beggining isnt that bad, considering the overworld isnt that big. you can walk every single pixel in under 10 minutes (minus monster encounters). The boggest pain inn the game are the bosses. They are immensly difficult, except for dark link. If you stand in the corner, he cant hit you. whcih is sad, because in OoT, he was the hardest miniboss
@daznaz It is probably the most difficult Zelda. Dont let that stop you from playing it. With the save states, you can just cheap-shot through the game xD
@azikira I know, I have only played about 3 hours so far, but by the time I'm done, I'll be itching to play it again. I dont care what some people say. I am LOVING the VC so far. Avenging spirit is a great game, and Gargoyle's Quest is... mindblowing! Right now, there are 5 VC games I have, and they are all great. -Link's Awakening DX -Avenging Spirit -Gargoyle's Quest -Donkey Kong -Mario's Picross These are just appetizers, really. Soon we are getting the best of the best. Metroid 2, Mario Land 2, Pokemon R/B/Y (its obvious we'll see them soon, thats instant millions for nintendo), etc. I still cant believe a lot of people complain about pricing, too. It's not expensive at all, compared to buying an original cart at a retro game store. Link's Awakening DX costs $20, plus another $5 to get the internal battery changed.
@Azikira I know! Gargoyles Quest is a little gem that pushed the limits of the Gameboy. Its good to know that 3rd parties support VC, if they didnt, I would've never played this. The length of the game is worth $3. You get so much bang for your buck there. Good story, pretty long game (for GB), Platforming and RPG, and great replay value. I cant wait for Megaman and Bionic Commando (looks good)
The wait to play this game is dreadful. Then again, there are a bunch of AAA 3DS titles to tide me over. Starfox comes in a week. Pokemon Rumble blast comes out october Super Mario 3D Land comes out november. Plus with Rolling Western, Metroid 2, the 20 free games (hoping for Pokemon, any one, prefferably Emerald), and Im currently playing Donkey Kong and Gargoyle's Quest, both of which are a blast. The wait shouldnt be too long
I have no clue what it is, but it looks pretty nice. And it's by Nicalis, the masterminds behind Cave Story, so it'll probably be awesome. 3DS-ware has some pretty neat titles coming. I cant wait to download 'The Rolling Western', 'Mutant Mudds' and 'Mighty Switch force'. they all look cool. thank god i have a 16 gb memory card to fit all the games coming out.
@65 That'd be nice. The Rolling Western looks like so much fun. Now that there's no size limit, we can finally get more largescale titles. WayForward is CONSIDERING a Shantae 3. I emailed them a while back and asked (they have amazing customer service). I cant wait to see what Wayforward has up their sleeves for 3DSware. Mighty Switch force looks awesome
@waltzelf HOW IS THE iPAD INNOVATIVE?! It's just an iPod touch for idiots who cant figure out how to use a laptop! iPad is a piece of s**t, like mlost of apples generation 3+ products. Nintendo makes a qualiity piece of hardware. I still have a gameboy that hasnt had a single problem in over 20 years, same with ALL of the Nintendo consoles I own.. and I own 'em all. Everything from their Pong consoles, to the 3DS. I still have one of the 'Love Testers' that came out in 1969. It works perfectly! It's 40 years old, and works like new! If apple took over Nintendo, that's the end of quality gaming hardware. I dont wanna have apple go on at e3 saying, "You bought the 3DS, and now heres a $600 3DS with retina display. No new features... BUY IT!" Apple sucks. good day sir.
This is bogus (no offence editor). Nintendo KNOWS that releasing a revamp after 3DS sales skyrocket is a dumb idea. The 3DS is now selling like hot cakes, so Nintendo wouldn't do something to mess up any potential sales.
It seems to take a lot from shantae. Catchy music, switching between backround and foreground. And we all know how awesome Shantae: Riskeys Revenge was. take my money
@brandonbwii Metroid 2 is great. It pushed the limits in terms of creating a lenghty game with limited hardware capabilities. Its hard to compare it to Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion, because it was different. Although, this game is one of the most influential to what metroid became after that. It introduced the shoulders for the Varia suit, save rooms, and when samus finds the baby metroid, which has a lot to do with metroid from then on. And Other M was a great game. I think the only true flaws is the voice acting, and that its much more linear. And Prime Hunters was awesome. Everyone who I know that has it loves it. You get used to the awkward controls quickly, and the graphics are pretty nice for the DS.
This just sounds great. And seeing how Nintendo is bringing NES games to the eShop, maybe seeing SNES games isn't such a shot in to deep blue nothing. I'd like to have Super Mario World, Super Metroid, and the Original Star Fox (I love it, i dont care if its a bunch of flying triangles). I mean, Miyamoto is considering bringing ALttP to the eShop. Hopefully we'll see the countless other SNESgames. I couldnt care less if they were in 3D, I just want SNES games wherever I go.
I'll tell you what would happen if they became a 3rd party developer. I'd go to Walmart, buy myself a shotgun. Go out into the woods. Put the shotgun down my throat, and fire away. I have put Nintendo before EVERYTHING else in my life. My family, my friends, everything. If they, that made the gaming industry what is is today, would just give up, I might as well give up on life.
I still have an unopened copy of Metroid II. Its a collectors item, and worth a ton if its unopened. So are all my unopened Earthbound copies. I hvae 7 in the box.
I cant wait, Metroid II is awesome. See, Nintendo would never forget the classsics. I couldn't care less about the gamegear games, besides sonic. With these AAA titles coming soon, expect the GBC line up to grow, too.. I talked to a Nintendo rep about a problem i had with connecting to the eShop. And I asked: How many games are coming to the GBC line. She said, there are many games, all currently going through the ESRB. I cant name many, but I can confirm Pokemon Crystal, and the Oracle games.
I preordered it, but I dunno about the golden wiiremote+ Thank god it comes out sooner than december, I'm gonna be stuck with finals in december, so i got a good month to play this an Super Mario 3D Land.
Don't forget, people, with every 3DS sold, Nintendo loses 5-10 dollars. So high console sales is just the first step. With all the AAA titles coming to VC and retail, the 3DS needs to sell enough software to make up for the miniscule amount lost on every 3DS. I geuss what i'm trying to say is: This is only step 1, sales and line-up will get better, making up for nintendo's loss and hardware.
Well, at $2 it seems a little iffy. COnsidering, 10 second run, the game n' watch collection, and the Anonymous Notes games are $2 and in terms of pricing, you get ALOT more for your money.
Then definantly Donkey Kong. It's even better than the NES one. To put it simply: you pay $4 for 100 level with infinite replay value. I've already played all the levels a few times. But if you prefer a sudoku-esque puzzle game, go with Picross.
@sam322 radar mission is a black and white battleship essentialy. I say, If you already have Donkey Kong or Picross, dont get anything. Just wait. All the AAA titles are coming. Those $3 should be put on Metroid II or Pokemon Yellow.
There are so many goog games coming to the 3DS, sales will undoubtedly pick up when these games are released. ~Animal Crossing ~Paper Mario ~Super Mario 3D Land ~Mario Kart 7 ~Pokemon Rumble BLAST! ~Luigi's Mansnion 2 ~Kid Icarus Uprising ~Resident Evil: Revelations ~MGS3 ~Shinobi ~Sonic Generations and the list goes on.. As for the eShop, everything has to go through the ESRB before it can be released. So all the AAA gb and GBC titles have to be looked at by the ESRB... again.. But remember, there are 52 weeks in a year, and the get to about 2 games a week.theres 104 games (about). I just want more GBC games.
They chose wisely with Excitebikes and Xevious, I love 'em both. But hoe did they even choose this? Did they go, "Hey, lets put every NES game and put it's name in a hat, and whichever one we pick, we'll sell..." They had over 900 games to choose from... I'm sold on Twinbee. I just hope that the last few 3D Classics are actually classics... coughcough Metroid
I downloaded it a few hours ago. I'm pretty far, and its a very good game. But I have played the arcade version, and this is a bit inferior. But if you only had a few bucks, I'd reccomend Mario Picross or 3D Xevious. I personnaly give it a 7. The only things I dont like are: lack of difficulty, music (it bugs me for some reason) and a bit of repetition.
@James Great, did you play the level were you fought one of the Koopa Bros? 3-5 if I'm not mistaken... I hope that the 'Land' in the title infers that it will draw upon a few elements from Super Mario Land, like the crazy level design and the almighty exploding koopa xD
As for a returning powerup, I'd love to see the Kuribo Shoe. It iss easily the best Mario power-up.
I would have hated fighting a polygonal Ridley xD As for a 3DS entry, I have an idea: Metroid: It tells the events of Metroid II through Super Metroid as a FPS. Imagine going through a vibrant but eerie metroid homeworld, and after finding that baby metroid, bringing him back but to that lab place. But then! You go back to Ceres years later, and then play through a Super Metroid FPS. Keep the bosses the same obviously. Am I awesome or what!
Theres no way Nintendo would do something like that. Nintendo consoles dont give you games, they give you an experience. If Nintendo were to develop games fo the 'smart'phones, theyd be watered dwon ports of SNES or GBA games. Investors have to sit down and play Ocarina of Time 3D and realise how dumb they are! Full touch screen controls? NO! They're messy and unresponsive. My friend has Streetfighter on his ipod, and HATES it. He cant pull of any combos with the touchscreen controls. Tehn I showed him it on my 3DS, and he LOVED it. You'd think after the DS being the highest selling console of all time, investors would have realized that 2 screens is always better than 1.
This game alone will boost sales of the 3DS x) I see what they were doing by putting the logo on kind of a slant. Imagine how that'll look in 3D! The left portion flying out of the screen, while the right half sinks inward. And the tail just tops it off!
I'd like to see a "Super Mario 3D 2 World" after this, taking the vegetable throwing, multiple characters and Shy Guy usage from Mario 2, and The cape, yoshi, and spin jump from Super Mario World.
Also, @James when you played the game, was it more reminescent of Super Mario 3, or the Galaxy series?
@sam322 have you linked your account yet? If you link your account and eShop, you get coins for purchases, etc. if you haven't, go on the eShop and under options, theres an icon that says 'link accounts'
I'm only at 100 coins, after donloading these, I'll be at Gold. Then I also have: Pokemon Rumble BLAST! Star Fox 64 3D Super Mario 3D Land Mario Kart 7 Skyward Sword and Kirby's Return to Dreamland preordered. My 3rd year making Platinum, YEA!!
I kinda preffered Metroid as a FPS. I'd like to see a Metroid Prime 5 on the 3DS, but not with the same controls as Hunters. The 3DS can keep similar controls to the first 2. Move-circle pad A-fire B-jump X-missiles Y-morph ball L-lock on R+cirle pad - move camera then the D-pad could change visors and weapons And the map could be on the touch screen.
Looks like a mix of Super Mario Sunshine and Yoshi's island. Cant wait to get my hands on this. I already have a $20 download card to buy this and Rollling Western. All in all, I have 22 games coming to the eShop that Imma get. (the 20 free ones, and the 2 previously mentioned ones)

Re: EnjoyUp Promotes DSiWare Games with New Video
99 bullets is a good game. But I prefer wayforwards work with DSiWare.
Re: Not n-Space's Decision to Develop Modern Warfare 3 for DS
Call of Duty is just boring. If I want a good FPS on my 3DS, I'll go out and buy Conduit when it comes out on the 3DS.
Re: 3DS Ambassador Titles Earn You Club Nintendo Coins Too
I'm only at 100 coins, after donloading these, I'll be at Gold.
Then I also have:
Pokemon Rumble BLAST!
Star Fox 64 3D
Super Mario 3D Land
Mario Kart 7
Skyward Sword
and

My 3rd year making Platinum, YEA!!
Re: Feature: Staff Roundtable - Metroid's Past, Present and Future
I kinda preffered Metroid as a FPS. I'd like to see a Metroid Prime 5 on the 3DS, but not with the same controls as Hunters. The 3DS can keep similar controls to the first 2.
Move-circle pad
A-fire
B-jump
X-missiles
Y-morph ball
L-lock on
R+cirle pad - move camera
then the D-pad could change visors and weapons
And the map could be on the touch screen.
Re: Interviews: Renegade Kid - Mutant Mudds
Looks like a mix of Super Mario Sunshine and Yoshi's island. Cant wait to get my hands on this. I already have a $20 download card to buy this and Rollling Western. All in all, I have 22 games coming to the eShop that Imma get. (the 20 free ones, and the 2 previously mentioned ones)
Re: Nintendo Download: 4th August 2011 (North America)
YAY! I already got it! With infinite replay value, this should tide me over until the 3DS VC library beomes a lot larger
