1) Your games stay on your switch if it is already downloaded, you do not need online service to play games offline. The phrase "potentially forever" is in reference to that fact. As long as you do not delete the game and your switch remains in working condition, it is yours to play
2) Disney no longer has a vault with Disney + around (Except fantasia and the jungle book according to Wikipedia). Also it is not the same thing as Disney would rerelease them every 5 - 7 years, Nintendo is not doing that.
3) It seems your point is Nintendo can do what ever they want. Your right they can, however it does not make it a consumer forward move that has no other motive then to exploit consumers a) "you are crazy if you think nintendo would do this just because they can" Would you consider NSO's NES and SNES collections the same thing? These type of things should exist to fill out NSO, like Tetris 99
b) "also ZELDAS 35th is 5 months away NO FRICKIN way there gonna shove more mario down peoples throats in 2021" Should they remove mario odyssey from store shelves and eshop as well? Maybe remove NSMBU Deluxe too? Hell cancel the SM3DW remaster. I believe 2 games can coexist on the market without nintendo losing money.
c) "sorry you are wrong because 25th anniversary on the wii they DID THE EXACT SAME THING." That was a collectors edition with packed in extras. There was no digital version of that game. Like all collectors editions you expect them to be limited in quantity. (Turns out they rereleased it under the nintendo selects like 5 years later without the pack ins so your point is moot) Super Mario 3D All Stars is not a collectors edition, it is a standard game. It is not in limited quantity because it is digital, nor have they said that the physical version is. I am willing to bet the physical edition gets restocks when it inevitably sells out in the first month, collectors editions typically do not restock.
d) "Chill" I am chill, just not happy with this very anti-consumer move. The presence of caps in your comments, however, display a very lack of "chill" on your end
A side note: I am an avid nintendo fan who has already pre-ordered the game, excited to play SM 35 and will probably get that game and watch thing. This doesn't mean that as a "fanboy" I should be happy with bad business practices, even if it is from my favorite company. Often I will be a Nintendo apologist, defending the meager offerings for NSO and Nintendo's lack of technological advancement in the online gaming space. However this move seems so calculated to drum up hype in a very artificial and cynical way. I can only hope that by March there is a clearer reason why they would do this, I don't peg nintendo to pull EA level shenanigans
The Game and Watch and the Super Mario 35 game are also limited release.
While I can see your point about anniversary editions being limited, why limit a digital version? Limited run physical releases make sense, but what is lost by Nintendo to keep super mario 3D all stars on the eshop? If there is no reason that is practical there is only one reason that is insidious.
As for the super mario 35 there is no excuse for releasing a digital game for 6 months, regardless if it is free or otherwise. it's just silly. If you are going to claim that they want to start charging for it then explain their approach with Tetris 99. These things are part of NSO, the monthly price you pay should go towards these benefits even if they add paid content afterwards. Anti-consumer moves should be chastised, complacency only allows for further abuse.
As for this jump rope game, it's free to all and if Nintendo wants to pull it I personally don't believe there is anything wrong with it. It is not an online game so its functionality isn't stripped with Nintendo pulling it off the store, those who want it should get in on it now so they can have it (potentially) forever
A lot of people in the comments talking about how if you mess up your own island there are consequences, but I believe the article is referring to mystery island tour islands. There, you are not necessarily incentivised to destroy the island but people do wipe it clean to spawn tarantulas. That is not what the game pushes you to do, but it does happen. I actually have one qualm with the game, that being there is not a garbage can on the mystery islands, forcing me to leave tires boots and cans all over the beaches. Maybe just a line from Wilbur telling me that he will clean up any of my trash?
